Thanks for posting. My 2011 Forester needed a serpentine belt. I almost took it to the local shop where they wanted the car to sit there until tomorrow, and quoted me $575 to do nothing but replace that belt. As soon as I saw you release the belt tension with a wrench I decided to do it myself. One man job, and literally, without exaggeration, I was putting away the handful of tools I needed in under 15 minutes. Oh, FWIW, the one thing to make the replacement belt easier to put on, I used a couple of those giant spring paper clips because I needed more hands.

My dad has been successfully DIYing his auto work with Haynes manuals since I can remember and always bought me one for my own cars. This worked perfect in a 2013 forester.

Sizing of the tooling used would be more helpful.

I have a 2006 Legacy GT Spec.B station wagon with the 2.0 EJ20 and 6 speed manual. I haven't found a manual for that exact model, but could you recommend the one closest to this model?

When (miles/years) is a good time to replace a Subaru alternator? I've heard that OEM are really good quality (which for the price they better be!) so I'm guessing they usually go far beyond 100,000 miles/10 years?

For what it's worth, mine has 175K miles, still works properly, but I had an electrical surge off the alternator last week that blew all my lights and caused a CANbus commutation error with the ECU. Had to get it reset at the dealer. Going to be changing the alternator ASAP to prevent it from happening again.

How many AMPS is this alternator? 100A? A STOCK one, just like the one in this video, ANYONE?

I was told 110a by Subaru, but I’ve been reading 90a, and seen one that claimed 200a
