Hey I just want to THANK YOU for this video - we got a $1200 estimate to replace the control panel in our gas furnace; I went and looked at it and wondered if it was possible to do myself. Sure enough, I watched this and a couple other of your videos, ordered the part, and handled it myself to the tune of $208 total! Thank you so much for such easy to understand, easy to follow instructions! I also cleaned up the flame sensor while I was down there thanks to another one of your tutorials!

I just got quoted around $1,400 for the same, and just put about $176 in for my replacement parts which come later today, including a $10 fan capacitor with a $400 installation fee. Jeebus. I’ve built PCs before, so all I needed from the technician was the $79 service charge to properly diagnose the issue.

Thank you for this video. My hvac was frozen up last Thursday. Waited to see if it would come back on after it thawed. It didn't. Had service call and they told me it was the control panel. I had my neighbor who used to own hvac company. The tech said the control board was old and with no vendor info, that it would be hard to find and about $1500 to replace. He said I would likely need a new system (current system is just 7 yrs old). He said if I couldn't find company with control board to give him a call. That was my clue that he was full of bs. I didn't bother calling over the weekend. Took a pic of control panel. Found the part #. Googled it. Made a visual comparison and pulled the trigger. My neighbor can't do the work because of arthritis in his hands. I watched this video and was certain that I could do it. He had a voltage meter and double checked that there were no live wires. It took 30 mins only because the board was behind drain pipe and other wires. For $400 including the $195 service call, the 125 part and 75 for overnight shipping, the control panel has been replaced. Been teasing my boss that I am adding hvac tech to my resume. Diagnosing is the hard part and I am certainly willing to pay for that. (I am 57 y/o woman and this was easy peasy.) Thank you again

Just wanted to come here and say you have encouraged me to do my own heat pump system, as it should be a straight forward install. I was getting quotes for $12000 for something where the parts cost $4450. This is the most straight forward install, as its a fairly new construction, no existing condenser or coil, just gas furnace. Wiring is already run to cut-off, and the copper line run is about 6ft through the wall to the coil (literally couldn't be simpler). Need to add and level a 36x36x3 concrete condenser pad. The coupler duct is the same size as the coil and requires no fitting beyond removing the coupler duct on top of the existing furnace and putting the coil box in place. This will save me $8000 to do it myself, and I gained a skill and some tools out of it.

Good information, however, I would recommend removing the old board, and install the new board before transferring the wires. This reduces the risk of electrostatic discharge which can cause the new board to fail. Believe me, I know.

Totally agree and less chance of breaking the board when removing and installing wires. Sometimes they are on there good

To each his own. I haven’t had any issues doing this method. And you’d need to take a TON of pictures from a lot of angles but it can be done for sure. Thanks for the input sir. Cheers

Hello, I have a trane look almost the same as the one you fixed in the video. but the problem is that the fan always stays on. I changed the control board. I changed the thermostat and checked all the boiler limit switches and everything is closed. I don't know what else to do. Can you give me some advice please?

I found the culprit of ruining the control board: spider webs, which caused shortage of the control boards. Thus, it is important to prevent the spiders getting into the warm chambers of such delicate electronic control board area also the capacitors. It is too sad that nobody care about the measures of preventing spiders by all the AC units manufacturers. Shame on them!
