I accidentally punctured a hole in my printer's film last week, thinking I had to replace the entire VAT I came across this video. Got the film my printer needed and followed your tutorial. Everything came out perfectly! I'm inexperienced/not knowledgeable on 3D printers and I was able to follow along just fine. Thank you so much

Well, I feel like I did a bit of a dumb by fighting with the FEP for so long only for it to be this easy to actually change out, but now that I have these new tricks, I can get back to failing to print with resin!

Best tutorial so far! Awesome video

There is a much easier way to do this. Just take the uncut FEP sheet and sandwich it in between the metal gaskets. Pick one of the corner screw holes and put a hole thru it, then the screw. Go to the opposite corner and pull the fep tight, while holding it tight pop a hole then put the screw thru. Then repeat that for the other two corners. Then just proceed by putting holes in the remaining screw positions. Then run all the remaining screws in. Lastly you just take a sharp knife or razor blade and trim the FEP off. No need for the cardboard frame or stapler. I about died laughing watching this video

Great tutorial! From what I understand, you wouldn't want to use this method on a Mono X as you want the FEP to be loose when you first attach it. The tension comes when you screw the final layer of bolts. So just be aware, it depents on the type of printer you're using.

I got a anycubic Photon m3 and I want to change my fep but I’ve read that I can’t change just the fep sheet and need a fep with a frame. Is that true? Thanks a lot👌🏽 love your content
@Core-Electronics Жыл бұрын
Cheers mate for you kind words ❤️! Just researched and it looks like the Photon m3 uses pre-framed sheets (which seems to me a step in the wrong direction). Here is a 3D printable M3 FEP Replacement Frame - cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/anycubic-m3-fep-frame. If you print that off and use it in your machine you'll be able to follow through the same process I outlined in the above video 🙂

If you're really careful you can disassemble the frame and reuse it using this method. It's glued together at contact points inside but I was able to separate them with a razor to split the seam and a putty knife to pry it apart.

Wow, whatte clean and crisp video. Any recommendation on how to fix the rubber gasket/seal, foundybetween the FEP sheet and vat tank, that has loosened significantly?
@Core-Electronics2 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate 😊 on my Creality systems there isn't a rubber Gasket/Seal only a metal spacer. Not quite sure the issue your facing, which Printer are you working with? Perhaps some washers between the screws and metal spacer could help.

@@Core-Electronics I'm using a creality LD002R, the gasket looks like a huge O-Ring. It is sandwiched between the Vat tank frame and FEP sheet, around the inner rim of the vat tank wall. I couldn't find the replacement anywhere, few blogs suggested putting it in hot/cold water didn't really work. Ended up printing a custom vat using TPU on my ender. Haven't tried it yet.

Thanks for this. Do you have any experience with the tanks for the Formlabs 1+? Formlabs stopped supporting this printer, which still works very well, and 3rd party tanks are expensive and not always reliable. Thanks for any help with this.

Hi can i ask what size is that vat for 6.6in screen? It looks identical to my new mono2 vat only doesn't split on anycubics and i badly need a new fep as the crease is printing on my models! Lucky if its a month old and the fep is done and they don't have replacements as of yet for the new mono 2 so im stuck here!

And what about if whatever caused the puncture also damaged your screen, and let some resin leak out and cure on the screen? 😢

This would be great if anycubic didn;t screw us on the photon mono 2. They made the plastic FEP frames glued to the FEP so you have to replace the whole thing and not just the FEP. They also made the frames out of garbage plastic that cracks super easy so over tightening the screws breaks it, trying to separate the frame breaks it, looking at it wrong breaks it. They also made the VAT screws that hold the VAT to the printer thread into plastic so they strip super easily. So far I am pissed about this machine.
@burlahoe6 ай бұрын
They most likely did that because it’s one of the cheapest machines. I have one and it’s fantastic. I just now had to change my fep. Amazon has them preinstalled into new metal spacers. Super easy to change. 2 of them for 20 bucks.
@x9x9x9x9x96 ай бұрын
@@burlahoe I found where someone designed a frame to use with the mono 2 so you can just use plain fep sheets.

Method does not work, the FEP simply stands too tall and screws never reach the hole
