Awesome video but i would say the axle didn't really need to come out of the hub as long as you supported it (with a jack and if possible bungee cords). Otherwise awesome
@RoysGarage8082 жыл бұрын
You can do it without removing the outer joint from the hub. Be careful.

I’ve been putting off changing mine. There’s different struts due to some Corolla models built in the USA and some in Japan
@RoysGarage8083 жыл бұрын
I never knew! Usually I just tell the parts store the year make and model and they provide whichever the manufacturer calls for, sometimes they get it wrong but usually they get it right. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Yes, Japan models use 8mm studs, America made are 10mm studs according the catalogs.

Thank you for this, Roy!. Question: When purchasing aftermarket struts, there seems to be two options, depending on where the vehicle is built: 1. Built in USA and 2. Built in Japan. My problem is that my Corolla was built in Canada. Do you know which option should buy?
@milenmarinov33873 ай бұрын
If your VIN number starts with letter "J" it means it's made in Japan, otherwise it is made in America.

Hi sir may i ask is it very hard to do it... i never replace strut on Toyota before, how long is it take to replace 2 front ??? Do u need to pay for alignment after replacement strut???
@AntonioHall03026 ай бұрын
@RaysGarage808 do you have to compress the spring at any point to prevent it shooting off? Also did you put the punch into the little hole to make it align with the opening or just punch the opening space?
@SmoothOperata Жыл бұрын
I did this earlier but couldn’t finish the job as my upper mount bracket or strut tower rejnforcement doesn’t fit duralast. My car is made in Japan. Went to Autozone and Oreillys but they don’t have the US one. So frustrating

A local chain shop here in NJ wants to charge me 1200 for all four, labor and parts. Seems excessive.

Hello I have questions .struts front toyota matrix is same struts for Toyota corolla . Thank you
@RoysGarage8083 жыл бұрын
I’m not 100% but what you can do is call your local parts store and they’ll be able to let you know the exact fit for your car. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Yes, both sides were the same brand. I highly highly recommend using the same brand for both sides under all circumstances possible. Thanks for always watching my man 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

I think the only difference is if the car is made in Japan or America for the struts.

Why it needs an alignment? U didn’t undo the alignment bar
@milenmarinov33873 ай бұрын
Because there is quite a play with these 22mm bolts which can/will mess up the aliment.

Besides the possibility of the axle detaching from the inner mount, are there any other pitfalls to look out for when doing this job? Great explanations and camerawork!
@RoysGarage8082 жыл бұрын
Try not to let the inner joint pop out. It's hard to put it back in.

@@Degod413 Your call, if the good one is under 10k miles, in great condition, keep it to save money, but just know it'll ALWAYS be 10k miles ahead, that's a lotta bumps. It's the same with tyres. :D
