How to replace the Idle Air Control Valve (Chevy Impala and others)

Awesome video. I took a picture with google to even figure out what it was. Mine is fully extended. I smooshed it to a retracted position brcause it was all the way out. I really want to try to reinstall the old valve but i dont want to screw up anything so i suppose i will just buy one. 😂❤

Hi John! yep I agree, this engine were built to last! this one had a slight rough idle so the valve was pulled out found to be covered in gunk (when I showed it on video it was partly cleaned up) new part went in and we have a silky smooth idle now 😁 Cheers bud!

Hey Alex! Please make a video on install backup cameras inside vs outside. Concerns: 1) My license plate sits to the left of the car and that makes me worry the camera will be off center. 2) if I install inside will the rear window's lines mess with the video quality?

Hi Chihiro! I got you covered, here you go kzbin.info/www/bejne/amW6iYFugq5pbNE you can see both methods (inside and outside) at the 6:25 mark. Regarding the offset plate, while most installers use this area technically the camera can be placed anywhere on the rear of the vehicle only limited by the skills of the installer in routing the cable. For the second question you can see how rear defroster lines look on any of my dash cam review videos as I always mount my rear camera on the inside of the vehicle. Hope this helps and Cheers bud!

Hi DJ! Normally the mechanic will refer to the service manual or instructions that came with the valve to determine that. Most of the time adjustment is not needed but most mechanics will double check the valve to ensure it's up to spec before install (a valve out of spec could be one that requires adjustment before install, or that may have been returned by a prior customer and was adjusted manually placing it out of spec or could also be potentially defective). Again just depends on the part and how it's sold and what the service manual indicates is normal for it. Cheers!

Hi Jairo! I always disconnect the battery when working on a vehicle both for safety and also has the added benefit that it clears the cars computers (some cars are sensitive to having sensors disconnected while the car has power) But yep there are some mechanics out that will do it with the battery connected.
