ThankU for this video! Simple and easy to follow. I have the exact same ups, battery power lasts about 2/3mins then dies during loadshedding. Wasn't aware that the batteries could be replaced. I was keeping an eye out on takealot for a reasonably priced ups to buy. With your video and detailed explanation, I'll now be replacing the batteries. Will share an update soon.

This looks remarkably like my 11-year-old Blazer UPS, casing, batteries and internals are almost identical, even the switch-on beep is the same. Will these accept LiFePo4 batteries? I tried with my Blazer but the fan didn't stop running and there was only 13.33V across the battery while charging.

Ah. I’ve been looking for this vid for ages. Your ups looks the same as the mercer?? Could I swop the batteries for lithium? Or (a bit of a butcher move) but maybe cut a hole and extend the positive and negative cables to a car battery? Would it work ? Or would I blow something up going from 9v to 12v? Thanks so much.

How about a Kstar UPS? Do they use the same size batteries? Do 12V 9AH batteries only come in 1 size? I want to replace the batteries in mine as their slowly dying and I need it functional again for this stage 6 nonsense as I work online. Would appreciate a quick response as I want to order them soon. Thanks for the super informative video :)

May I ask what the batteries are wired in series? Is it to get the voltage to 24v? If i recall correctly, battery capacity won't be added in this config right? Also how long will the battery last if there's a power interruption every day? I mean if it's cycled almost everyday? Our company replaces our clients' UPS every few months since our clients' area got rotational power interruption and sometimes drains all the juice before they can power off the machine plugged into it

Don't ya mean closed circuit with the intact continuity? Short circuit means something else.

Hi, very informative & easy to digest (thx) - I have a question, (re Viewpower, - UPS settings>>Parameter>>Battery numbers setting). I have a sine wave 2KV online ups with 4x 9AH (12V) batteries inside. Is the correct setting for "numbers in parallel" 4? And then, battery total AH is 36AH (9x4)? Pls help me, searched the web countless times, but cannot get no satisfaction 😏 Pls assist!

But seriously, is it possible to replace the batteries with 12V Lithium ones? I did that for my house alarm and that has worked beautifully, now I'm wondering if I can do it for my UPS.

I have a 1000VA Blazer, which looks identical inside and out. I tried installing two LiFePo4 batteries but the fan didn't stop running (even after an hour or two), the voltage across the terminals when charging was 13.33V and the monitoring software only showed 26.4V (usually 27.5). So I assumed they're not compatible and reverted to LA batteries (which only last 2.5 years).

@@Visionery1Sounds like I got lucky because mine worked fine with a pair of 12v Lithiums. It's a little old RCT so maybe justnot smart enough to snag on the difference. I did check the reviews for the batteries and some had told of the same success. Relieved because the LA batteries were only lasting 6 to 8 months.

Also thinking of getting lipo, have the 3000VAS and this one, they last just about an hour. Could not see anything in the software to select the battery type. It's possible?

Can I fit lifepoe4 batteries? Having issues where the unit cannot be switched on after a few days. When I open the unit for some reason the unit powers up agian. The battery terminals have been tightly connected.

Question: Is it true that when the power comes back on that's being fed to the UPS that a power spike can occur? Can it bypass a Line Interactive UPS and damage equipment?

if its an online UPS then there should be no spike at all. If its line interactive there can be a spike.

Is it possible to replace the SLA batteries with LiFePo batteries. I was considering the 12V12Ah. They claim it is a drop in for the 12V7Ah. What would you advise?

Lithium batteries use different charging logic. Some people may sell you drop-in replacements but they may not work optimally.

I have the same ups. When plugged into the utility power it works fine but when power goes off the whole unit switches off. Why is that

I have a similar unit. Took it apart and the batteries both show about 12V. All fuses are intact. If I plug a load in, even plugged into mains, it shuts off almost instantly, even something small like a 2W LED runs a second or 2 then goes out. Should I be looking at something other than battery?

I've had a similar unit for over 10 years and replaced the batteries a few times. In your case the batteries need replacement. I currently have the same scenario, mine doesn't even manage a battery self-test anymore.

Lead acid is old tech. No longer feasible. 5 to 10 mins is all you'll get. New batteries last a few months. Post a video on Lithium / Phosphate alternative. Global shift has been done, so your video is antiquated. It's a no from me. 😊

There are pros & cons for both. Lithium is more expensive & can go ka-boom. Lead acid is cheap. Also, UPS are made for lead acid batteries. Unless you know your electrical stuff, do not prcatice Darwinism.
