Well Rick I have Drone #1 apart with the battery in its case. Scary when popping off some plastic but nothing broke or scratched. The only part that is confusing is releasing the cables. Instead of release buttons I fooled around and it appears the thin plastic flat plastic along the back of the connector must be lifted on the rear of connector to remove the ribbon, With the tab released I laid some blue mashing tape on the ribbon and it came out easy. The old battery tape was not holding the battery in the case. The old battery was eight years old with minimal swelling. I hope reassembly is just as easy. Tomorrow I will do Drone #2. Thank You for the best battery replacement video. 🤪👍.You are da man.

@@rwarton1 Both are done and charged up. The only problem on the second one is the little button camera tilt button on the lower right of the display flew to unknown territory. Anyway I found them on Ebay. It seems many people lose those buttons. I did lay down wide blue painters tape across a vertical strip of paper towel. I had the sticky side up so I could keep the little tiny screws in somewhat of a pastern as I removed them. Helpful for me as I am not the brightest star in the universe.🤪😜😝 Thank you once again Rick.

Note: for the Mavic 2 (zoom or Pro) remote, disassembly is similar but not exact. When removing the button board, the tiny connectors are behind where you took out the Torx screws which you'd want to pry from the connector, lest you rip the wires from the connector, I didn't notice this, and got lucky the connectors/wires didn't break when I got the button board out. By the way, the Torx is T6, no way near T1.5. There are actually 2 Lipos in there, not 1, but probably in parallel, since rating on the label is 3.85V nominal, 4.4V max at 3950mAH. The double-sided tape is rather solid, broke a wooden skewer a few times trying to pry out the battery. I'd remove the LCD screen from the frame first before prying out the battery. There are holes under there that could be useful to push out the battery. Didn't work for me, but you might find something just the right size. If you do push through the holes or slots, use something non-metallic. I'm rather surprised the two cells are in parallel. That's never a good idea. I confirmed across the red and black leads I show 4.1V Which as an aside, I am surprised the remote shows that as 70% charge.
@danman322 жыл бұрын
Correction: it isn't the button board whose wire connections you need to be especially careful about, it is the joystick connections when you remove the top cover.

Before disassembling it is helpfull to detach the lower right push button of the transmitter (located in the lower right corner of the display) otherwise it might brake by disassembling the chassis. Awesome video Rick. Yesterday I opened my backpack to find my remote soaked from a drink that leaked out. The remote was making a high pitch noise. With the help of your video I took it apart and disconnected the battery. Other than blowing it out with some dry compressed air do you have any recommendations before I reassemble. I was expecting to see some shorting out but I don't. But electronics isnt my strong point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Harold
@rwarton14 жыл бұрын
Hello Harold, If only water spilled on it I think leaving the battery out for a day or two should be fine. Laying it in the Sun for a bit or using a blow dry for about 10 mins will help insure all the water has evaporated. Now if something other then water spilled on it that's another story. Take soda for instance, even after the soda has dried up syrup and other ingredients may cause corrosion later. So what I do in cases like that is I use rubbing alcohol and pour it all over the circuit board and then used can air or an air compressor to blow off the circuit board. Then let the board dry over night and you should be good. Of course make sure the battery is not connected when doing this. Hope this helps. Best wishes Rick Warton

@@rwarton1 i wonder haw many battery's have ended up in a bin, i did try to do the power down of a pro battery, watched a clip where its cycled down to all lights going off then when recharged it was meant to reset the cells equally, nope didn't work for mine, also have watched where people have opened the battery up, changed a cell, or replaced the balance control inside, im not going to do any of that, ill use it as a bank, much easier. then got myself x2 battery's of eBay around a £110 ($151)for both, less than 11/15 cycles , plus a duff bat for free, bargain i think. plus the drone came only a month ago with two battery's, their on cycles 6/8. the chap just didn't fly it, drone laws i think over here (UK). only wanted your equivalent of $270. bargain with a total flight time of less than 4 .1/2 ... hours . soon took it off him when i heard it was for sale. we have 2x mini ones son & grandson, and i have the mini 2. so this month has been fun.

@rwarton14 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the slow reply. The remote battery should last at least an hour of flying time. But this can be more or less depending on the type of device you have connected to it. The DJI remote attempts to also charge the device that it is connected too which can cause the remote to drain faster if the cell phone or tablet connected is not charged good before connecting. See this video to help make your remote battery last longer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZXZgJmIeL59rtk Hope this helps.

Need your help to get Mavic pro 2 RC battery.
@rwarton14 жыл бұрын
Chukte, I'm sorry I do not have a supplier for the Mavic Pro 2 battery. Several have asked and I have had no luck in finding the battery. I've been told the battery in the Mavic Pro fits perfectly and the only difference is the Mavic Pro battery is a few hundred MW smaller than the Mavic Pro 2 battery but works perfectly. I have personally had a chance to see if this is true, but might be something to think about if your unable to find a Mavic Pro 2 battery for your controller. Best Wishes Rick

While the controller is apart, does anybody see a fix to keep it from charging the android phones
@rwarton14 жыл бұрын
The easy fix is to use the USB port on the bottom of the controller to connect your phone. Check out this video for more information on how to do it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZXZgJmIeL59rtk Hope this helps.

One other thought, while you have the controller apart put a strip of scotch's tape over the little hole on the speaker to help make the remote from being so loud when an alert is sounded. With the tape over the speaker it's now not so annoyingly loud. :)

Been looking to replace the battery on my Mavic 2 Pro and on the back of the controller it says 3950 mAh 3.8v. Therefore this battery, may be under powering the newer Mavic 2 Pro controller. Can't seem to find a replacement on Ebay just yet. I've contacted the source you noted here and awaiting to hear if they provide this 3950 sized LiPo. Do you own a M2P at all?

That's good to know. So the Mavic Pro 2 has a larger battery. I'll get with my sources and see if I can be of any help finding you a battery. Thanks for the heads up on the Mavic Pro 2 controller. @@rwarton1 Yeah, I was about to purchase this one you note but upon reviewing my controller, found this larger size noted, on the back. Glad I held off. They can't tell me the name of the company nor how much it will cost. How sad is that!! I just have to send to this company and hope they won't gouge me. You'd think they would do it themselves, DJI.

I'm sorry but I do not stock these batteries. I do not know of any other place to purchase these batteries except for the link in the comments. Since they are currently out of stock all I can suggest is to search the internet and see if you can find another supplier or a place that maybe you could send the controller and get the battery replaced. I've had several people tell me you can send your controller to someone and they will replace the battery and ship it back to you.
