Thank you so much for this great clear and thorough tutorial. I had a bad micro usb port, not broken off, but I think I must have shoved it in bad and messed up the inside part. Bought another daughter board replaced it and all working perfectly again.

I managed to squeeze one of the wires ( the white one ) when I unplugged the small connnector at the 3:50 . It is so small that I cannot see if the cable is broken or just squeezed. Any ideo how to replace it ( The right one, , red, yellow, black, white wires ) , or what it is anyway ? The RC seems ti be working since then , by the way. Thanks !!

Hi, i am actually repairing a broken remote. Already unsoldered the old socket and wasn't sure if the very right soldering pin is connected to this spot right next to it. Thanks to your video i am sure now that they haven't been connected. So thank you very much for your video, it was a great help. Btw i decided to directly solder a micro usb socket in, since you can't destroy it as easy as the original socket by putting the plug upside down in.

Good Video-I'm currently attempting to replace the micro USB on a DJI Spark remote....the solder does seem very difficult to melt-is that due to it being lead free?? Anyway the connector's off, and I'm wondering if I can replace the micro USB AB that was originally on the board with a micro USB B because the design of the AB is such that it's so easy to break the pins if you put the charger lead in the wrong way-I've done it twice!! I don't use the OTG feature at all, so I'm thinking micro usb B should be ok...

If you have any idea for the solution now, I'm also interested hearing it My closest guess is a TE connectivity 2134536-2 , it's not exactly the same but it should fit. I was about to order one to test it

The large USB port on the bottom of the remote’s broken for me. Also no idea how it happened. If I try to repair it myself, and find out soldering on a new port doesn’t fix it, do you think DJI will refuse to do in-house repairs on it? Usually stuff like this voids warranty, but it’s long out of warranty anyways.

Do you have any idea of the part number (or an equivalent one) for this usb connector? Mine is completely broken ! Also the one for the 5d button is missing on my remote so I'm interested into this also

No this connector is a complete PITA to find. People have replaced it with a micro usb but that will allow charging only.

Mad, Excellent video. Big Fan! I have enjoyed your videos and am a fellow ham and Drone Flyer! Was wondering where you got that cool desktop vise assembly. I love that. I am sort of sick of using the Vise devices with suction cups. They never work right. Was wondering if you can share how you did this or where you got it from? Thx, Jeff

I got it from Amazon, its was a fairly cheap one, try searching for BURNTEC PCB Holder Clamp. What you REALLY want and what I want is this though Sensepeek PCBite Kit , www.telonic.co.uk/Sensepeek-PCBite-Kit-Large-Base-Plate-p/sensepeek4007.htm, this is the best I have seen.

Great job as preparation to add the polish range extender, these 4hawks antennas I ahd purchased for the Mavic 2 ... They showed that too but a lot faster. Thanks a lot ... learned a lot from your kind of getting into the things safely. Looks like an artist at work watching your style of work, the patience you must have. Isn't that a case for the great DJI warranty ? Mine is over ... but I am still pretty happy to have bought at least the ZOOM at the right moment in time for 780€ back in Nov. 2018 when they had stress to sell the units due to missing capabilities even after a mighty delayed market introduction for which I had bet and did not buy it. Same for the Mavic 2 fly more kits at below 250€ and the goggles Racing edition cause otherwise DJI stuff is simply too expensive. That way I try to get the stuff, use it carefully and sell it sometime later without much depreciation ... cause it is just a hobby in the end among a lot others.

Nice job! I have had my fair share of broken micro usb port's, mainly on flight controllers. Luckily i am good when it comes to soldering, so have always been ok. Why companies use surface mount usb ports i do not know, through hole ports are virtually impossible to break loose compared to the surface mount ones. Strangely enough i have found that the biggest culprit for breaking ports off the board are the good quality usb leads - the ones that fit in very snugly and have the strong clips that hold the plug securely in the socket. I try to avoid those leads if i can, but having said that, when it comes to flight controllers, there is nothing worse than a lead usb plug that is too loose - especially when your trying to calibrate your mags and accelerators! 😡

Hi Ian, great video, but i was worried that you were not using a Solder fume extractor, be careful this stuff is dangerous.!
@MadRC4 жыл бұрын
Yea I was not actually, it’s something I need to sort. I have a plan for this as I have acquired a few big fans. I may make a video on making it. Been sniffing the lead for years but no it’s not good ;).
@typxxilps4 жыл бұрын
depends on how often you solder. It's about the amount of exposure as always and even in corona times. How often, how long and how close. Otherwise world war 2 must have ended far earlier running out of solderers. RADAR is far more dangerous ... lot of dead operators died by cancer using american radar equipment in the esrly 80ies
