Great video! Followed your video to the letter and had my 18 year old daughter do the work while I supervised. Because of the tips and tricks you explained in this video, she did this all by herself and now driving her 2005 Grand Cherokee again. So far, because of videos like yours, she has replaced both headlights, radiator, hoses thermostat, spark plugs, ignition coil pack, and oil changes. Now, she is going to take on the brakes, calipers, and shocks/struts. All this training has paid dividends in quality father daughter time as we as prepared her well for the road. In fact, she had a flat not too long ago and changed the tire all by herself even though people were stopping to help. Thanks again to you and videos like yours!

thanks for the step by step instructions i followed it the worst part was getting the radiator out IMO, this job took me over 6 hours of course i took breaks and stuff and went to the parts store twice, first for a new thermostat and second for antifreeze. had i been prepared i may have done the job in 4-5 hours.. its not real hard its just annoying more then anything. Thanks again for the video without it i would have paid a mechanic to do it and been out over $1,000. i paid 150$ for the radiator at pepboys

After replacing the fuel pump in my Jeep grand cherokee laredo 3.7 WK- Im now having a problem with a vapor lock and my new pump is making a ringing/humming noise off and on-is there a way to fix it with a inline check valve or inline filter of some sort. I have to release pressure on the fuel rail to re-crank it after it runs for more than 20 minutes/ which is a possible fire risk.

I just did this for a friend on her 05 grand Cherokee 3.7 and the bleeder screw was stripped so i couldn’t open it. Ran the Jeep for about 20 min and the bottom hose is still cold but everything else is hot. Could that bleeder not being opened be the issue or did i not put the thermostats in correctly ?
@Ken-12 жыл бұрын
i know its late but for anyone having this same issue, the answer is that bleeder screw is necessary to get all the air out. Same happened to me. Many systems bleed themselves with the cap off, but on this one you MUST remove that screw or else the system will air lock and overheat, almost like a bad head gasket

@williammaxfredericksensr.81376 жыл бұрын
I'm getting ready to do this job but prior to this my wife had found our 2005 Jeep WK was leaking coolant rather severely from the radiator and had to get an emergency top-up; Advance Auto sold her a gallon of Prestone Dex-Cool, which about 90% of that has been in the system since then, though it was only driven about 80 miles before we had to leave it sitting for the last month and a half due to starter and brake issues. My question is, I have Pentofrost A4 to fill the new radiator with, which says its HOAT, or I can get Zerex if I have to - but is that 1 gallon of Dex-Cool going to screw anything up? Do I have to run water through the whole system to flush it, and how is that done?

Does anyone know what size Allen head will fit in that bleeder screw up on the water pump by the upper hose
@sammybaby14135 жыл бұрын
I have the same Jeep. I replaced the heater core. It was leaking. I figured I would change the water pump, hoses, and thermostat while I was at it. I can't drive it more than 2 miles because the engine is getting really hot. The radiator is totally filled with coolant 14 and has been bled. Nothing leaks not even the radiator. Can these radiators clog like the radiators of yesteryear? lol. I think I can't go wrong if I install a radiator at this point.
@sammybaby14135 жыл бұрын
Replaced the radiator today and still overheating. Don't know what to do. Any suggestions?
@Ken-12 жыл бұрын
@@sammybaby1413 it's air. These are about the pickiest engines when it comes to air pockets in the coolant.
@ldubois3388 Жыл бұрын
Mine would blow out coolant and not draw it back in due to a water pump seal leak. The engine coolant loop would air lock.

@metalhalide40435 жыл бұрын
Did you also replace the radiator cap, only $5, change the cap and the thermostat at the same time and go with Stant brand or OEM. The rubber gasket and spring get weak in both over time effecting cooling.

No, if you haven't already, just watch the 1st couple of minutes of this video then skip to the end when he puts the new one in.....its super easy on these. Just remove the lower hose where it goes into the engine....thermostat is right there.
