Excellent video,! I wonder what could go wrong if only the thermostat itself be replaced instead of the entire housing

Great videos. Instructions how to. My question replacing just the thermost. Is normal practice also to replace the housing on this 4.0. Is this common problem with ford 4.0l. Thank you Keep up the great work. I enjoying your videos and learning something that will help me.

I’ve done a lot of these, I’ve never had to torque down the housing for the thermostat. Once they touch, I’ve just give the bolts a little bit of a love tightening

Also what if I strip the bolt in the back. What's the solution? I know I'm FKD but I still need advice please

What would be the easiest way to get one of the bolts out if the head of the bolt is rounded off? Luckily I guess its the front and not the rear bolt that is this way.

I just replaced the thermostat and now the housing leaks between the upper and lower halves. It doesn’t appear cracked and the bolts are tight. There’s no gasket besides the one on the thermostat itself, right?
@seanrutter19102 жыл бұрын
There is a gasket on the bottom that can fall out and should be coated on oil or grease to keep seal
@seanrutter19102 жыл бұрын
Should be a rubber gasket in plastic with the part

HELP I've got up to the 3 screws for the housing and the back is a 5/16. And I can't get it lose for the life of me. I tried WD40 and nothing. Is there something else I can use or is there another way I can just break the MF housing and get it out. I'm losing my mind. Any advice please

The worst design of a cooling system ford made. U can upgrade ur housing to aluminum instead of plastic for those that are about to do this job at home. Common fail point is the oring on the top piece for the thermo because ford didn’t think a flush service was a better idea for a surface that expands and contracts from the weather and coolant flowing at 200F
