New Thermostat with Housing Assembly from 1AAuto.com trq.video/ia-1...
The thermostat controls the flow of coolant in your vehicle’s engine. When a thermostat fails, it can lead to overheating, which will damage the engine. One sign of a faulty thermostat is a cool upper radiator hose when the engine is at full operating temperature. It’s important to replace the thermostat immediately if you suspect it is failing. This video shows you how to install a new TRQ thermostat with housing in your 2011-14 Chrysler 200.

Fantastic. Thanks so much. This is what I need to do to my daughters car. We took it to a shop, and an expensive labor to replace just 1 thermostat, but not the housing or the other thermostat in the housing. She continues to have off and on problems with her thermostat opening up, so I'm going to replace this entire housing, including both thermostats, and save money doing it myself. It's a bit more complex than I would have guessed compared to thermostat issues on most cars, but it's not HARD. Just quite a few steps, each one, very doable. Fortunately we already have the bumper off for other reasons so that will save several steps. Great instructional video. Databyter

Major question.. I have 2011 chrysler 200 2.4.. do I have to disconnect negative from battery or can I simply remove the negative ground from top.

Very helpful video. I'm going to attempt it this upcoming week. My one question is this: rather than disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery, would it be enough to disconnect it from the remote cable under the hood?
@djsi38t

Yes it would.also you really need not disconnect the battery at all.just done here as a precaution.

I learned cars by reading car specific Chiltons Manuals in the 70's and 80's. No matter WHAT you were doing, the first steps were always; "Jack up Car", "Disconnect Battery".. It must be a liability thing. Of course it only takes a few moments on most cars, so if you are going to be disconnecting sensors and harnesses, it doesn't hurt, but honestly most of those are dead on a dead ignition key, and even if they weren't it probably wouldn't hurt anything. Hello my friend awesome video but have a quick question. After I put vehicle back together while I was adding coolant noticed it leaking right away while I was adding the coolant near the housing I just replaced. Any tips? Coolant was leaking immediately while adding. Do I take it apart again? Please help 😅

You said most of the art burped out but I know some car require a bleeder valve to be slightly opened in order to do that. Does this car not have 1? I've been looking and can't find the exact location I there is 1 or do you simply use the method showed

Dam, I’m going to my mechanics Meineke shop this week to get that repaired for $500. 2 years ago I paid over $700. Certain things I do myself for my car but that right there just bc it deals with antifreeze and it’s freezing out here now I’ve chosen to fall back on doing it myself. But dude, this video made me certain and confident I can do this myself for sure, just not in this 30 degrees weather. Thank you man, that was detailed and the video helped. 💪💪👍👍 keep it up. New sub here.

My coolant is leaking/spraying from the part you called a "connector" at 4:52. What part is that? What could cause the coolant to come out from that part?

Hopefully you see this post! I was wondering why you replaced the entire housing? My daughters 200 has error code P0128, I’m not able to do the repair myself as I’m 2000kms away. The shop doing the job said the thermostat was stuck closed and he must replace the complete housing as it doesn’t have just a thermostat cover. Everything I can see shows the ability to just replace the thermostat cover and not complete housing. Even with the thermostat on the engine between engine and housing, shouldn’t you be able to just replace the thermostat and not replace the housing? He also charged her $380 for the housing itself. 4 hours labour too.

never reuse those factory hose clamps, they get weak over time.. they just use them for quick assembly when the car is being built..
@djsi38t
@djsi38t 2 жыл бұрын
Wrong...reusing them is fine just reinstall in the original position.those original spring clamps are better than using new worm gear clamps.original clamps can adjust with temp changes....worm gear hose clamps do not do this and can be problematic after the fact.
