These are fabulous videos. Very useful. Better (much) than consulting a manual. Note. 1997-2002 North American Corollas (mine was built in Canada) have a different engine. Intake manifold is on the opposite (radiator) side. Spark plugs use a coil block/ no distributor. Throttle block has a Mass Absolute Pressure sensor in place of a Mass Airflow sensor. Fuel filter is inside the tank with the pump.

If you follow his advice...you're NOT very bright. He didn't even know how to re-install sensor correctly...folks, you don't need to remove the throttle body to change the TPS...if you do, replace the gasket. I only come on these sites because people who bring me their cars think they can diy it...so they come to shade tree guys who don't know what they're doing...changing parts and diagnosing are two completely different things. You can teach a 5 year old how to change a part. This guy is a parts changer. .that thinks he knows more than he actually does.

i am having an issue with a 2002 corolla show codes p0133 and p0130 i think it maybe somethig to do with the throttle body sensor do you know of anything else that could cause it I've replace the MAF sensor both o2 sensor and have check for vacuum leaks 3 to 4 times

Don't listen to PeterFinn Yes the sensor controls the idle. Idle looping is something this sensor can cause if bad! Its not normal as mr genius suggested.

my 1992 toyota corolla has a issue where my idle droped from 1000+ rpm to now currently only 700-800+ rpm, my acceleration feels very weak and my top speed now can only hit 90kph on a straight, i just changed my spark plugs, distributor and throttle position sensor but issue still persist, any other issues that could be affecting this?

@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor I have 7AFE engine, 1 cylinder misfires and engine often hesitates when accelerating. I thought, before, that it's only bad ignition coil or only bad injector. But, I tried to disconnect the TPS sensor and engine runs good. So, it means, that TPS sensor is bad? Thanks.

How do I know if my throttle body sensor is no good and needs to be replaced before the car stops running completely the car was making a rattle sound as is what shifting into first and all the rest of the gears it was rattling right before going into all the gears and today it stopped running completely so is it the throttle body or the sensor? Car repairing is sometimes only parts replace. So, when I have issue, I have to repair&replace new parts and suddenly car is Ok. Like human doctor work.

Hi peter, my girlfriend has an 1995 Corolla 1.8L. Recently she's had alot of problems with the power and idle. When she turns on the car it shakes a little but it idles well. Once you put it into gear it sounds like it's choking for gas, and its even worse when driving. In both Park and Neutral I am able to rev the engine fine, but when you change it into gear (R,D,2,L) it pops and it sounds like its choking for fuel. I have already changed the ignition coil because I saw that it was broken and the symptoms were the same as the one's we are experiencing, but the problem still remains. Any info helps, thanks!!

My corolla chokes when you press the accelerator, and it runs super slow when you turn it on. Once you accelerate for like 10 seconds, it tuns ok. Also, the alternator got abnormally hot.
