@@gray5857 do you know the torque specification for the inner tie rod rack end (the portion under the bellows boot that you have to use a special tie rod adaptor tool to remove and place back on)?
@coolkarl97383 жыл бұрын
Your tie rods look to be in much better shape than mine. It is the same process for my Pilot. So thank you for putting this out for me to see and learn how to do!

Glad it was helpful on your Pilot. Was it the same sizes on the tools?

My cotter pin didn’t fit. I threaded it after straightening it. Is a single strand. Hope that it holds. Thanks for the video!
@MCFIXIT3 жыл бұрын
Cotter pins are pretty inexpensive, I'm make sure to get one to ensure a proper secure connection. You can get them at lots of locations (like an Ace or big box store) for next to nothing. I’d get a few different thickness to make sure you get one that fits right. I’m not sure why the one it came with didn’t fit right.
@paisa0073 жыл бұрын
@@MCFIXIT the pin fit, The problem was that it seemed the hole was a little high. After torquing to 40lbs the nut partially covered the hole and didn’t allow the pin through.

PS do you need to change out both of them?
@MCFIXIT3 жыл бұрын
It's not required, but I like to do both of them. You need to get an alignment afterwards and they are pretty inexpensive.

I was recording about five videos that day. You don’t need to do that for this repair. I must have accidentally left that in there when editing the video!

How hard is it to replace the rest of your tie rod (not just the end)?
@MCFIXIT3 жыл бұрын
Why are you replacing the whole tie rod? If it's because of a boot leak at the rack and pinion. You may need to change the whole rack and pinion out. I need to do this in the near future due the excessive leaking of the grease.
@sonko20102 жыл бұрын
What symptoms were you experiencing that caused you to change the tie rod?

Boot wear and 230k. I was replacing control arms too and needed an alignment. So I did them all together.
