Thanks for this video. I was able to do it without much trouble. I had the same problem with the clips, so I used my clip puller to slide them in the rest of the way. So, do I just leave the old one in the yard now?
@vyronbearden94946 жыл бұрын
The video is pretty straightforward as described. HOWEVER, he failed to show that there are two small clips that must be removed. I broke one of the pins off removing them but it does not affect the reassembly or function. I also really had to do some prying and twisting to get the gage cover out. It does not want to come out easily nor does it want to go back in easily. What appeared to take him maybe 20 minutes took me nearly an hour.
@christopherferro45706 жыл бұрын
Vyron Bearden I also had a bit of trouble getting the gauge cover off, even with the steering wheel in the lowest position. A bit of twisting and pulling got it done.

Same procedure for a 2005 Cobalt? Thanks in advance.
@virginiahardy80124 жыл бұрын
I replaced mine. If you remove all 3 bottom screws, the instrument cluster trim doesn’t need removing. Tilt the steering wheel fully down & the switch will come out. Reassembly needs a long screwdriver to pop that top part back in as I did mine. My key switch was a little snug, but loosened up after a few days.

If my turn signal works, but just doesn't turn off when the wheel straightens out, do I have to replace the whole thing or is there just a little piece that makes it turn back off?

Dont have to take the cluster bezel out or the bezel to the right of the wheel. Just tilt the wheel down, pop the top cover loose and tilt the side closest to the wheel, back towards cluster. Pop the left side cover off that has the dimmer on it (for clearance for the turn signal switch to come out), the one bolt on the bottom and you can get the switch in and out.

Just a bit of info, AC Delco parts ARE the original parts for these cars. They're original equipment. That's why they're more expensive than pretty much any other brand. They are actually owned by GM, make all GM factory parts, and also offer aftermarket parts for non-GM vehicles. But their parts for GM vehicles are original equipment parts because they are the ones who originally made the parts.

dude you don't need to take off any Trim off the dash to get the turn signal out. all you have to do is take the two screws out the bottom of the plastic trim on the steering wheel column and pop the top half lose and they both come off allowing you access to the switch

@IQBALHUSSAIN-xs8ws7 жыл бұрын
Hi Shane - I agree with you partially. There is no need to open the top 2 Philips screws and right side panels at all. I couldn’t take the old switch out by not removing the side assemblies on the left. I just removed the side small panel and was able to remove the old switch and insert the new. Putting the pieces back was very simple. Thanks for your inputs!

Yeah you do i took that piece of trim out because the signal stick would not come out, it hits the trim.
@EDGYGIRL936 жыл бұрын
What tools did you use?
@virginiahardy80124 жыл бұрын
A notched trim tool, a1/8” screwdriver, a 11/32” nutdriver, a long flatbladed screwdriver to put the top part back in if you don’t remove the cluster trim. Graphite for the keyswitch face if it’s tight after reassembly.
