I wanted to add, I replaced this part OEM three times and still blew three times. Problem was the connectors were corroded and letting moisture in the solenoid. I replaced the connectors and used some high heat, gasket maker to top off the connectors avoiding moisture going in. If you keep putting in new solenoid and they fail, check for corrosion on the two connector clips. That is your problem, not the solenoid itself.

got a solenoid faulit in my 08 element after hitting a deep puddle on my passenger side (US element). never had the fault before. this video helped me find the solenoid, and confirmed my suspicion that water got into the connector(s). i pulled the connectors off. hit them both (and the solenoid pins) with electrical parts cleaner. let dry. then some dielectric grease. so far so good after a few hundred miles. time will tell.

I just did this job twice (swapped the Solenoid between my CRV and E). I would highly recommend NOT removing the cable ties from the tin cover- just unbolt the one screw holding the cover to the solenoid and attach your new solenoid to the old cover. I really struggled to get the cable ties out and at one point was seriously damaging one- plus my hands were cramping. I'm glad I simply left the cables tied off to the cover.
@capitolmediasystems74512 жыл бұрын
Not sure if everybody caught that. After she loosened the first bolt and then moved on to the second, she stuck her other hand in and continued to loosen the first one while simultaneously working on the second one with the ratchet. This may not seem significant, but that is a sign of a total experienced professional.

How do you know if you have a bad solenoid or it needs to be replaced?
@1AAuto4 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Chavez Take note of these three common symptoms of a bad solenoid: Vehicle won't start. Starter solenoid fails to reset even after switching the car off. Bad starter solenoid sound (successive clicking or grinding sound)
@jeffshapiro49964 жыл бұрын
@@1AAuto it wasn't a starter solenoid that was replaced. it was a vtec solenoid.
@GreenleafOTTS3 жыл бұрын
On mine, you get a hard downshift while driving and a P2646 i think code. One case was low oil. Other case appears to be a bad gasket on the vtec part. But yeah. The Vtec tells vehicle how to shift, so you can get some weird symptoms when that screen gets clogged.

Buy a new screen (gasket)! Solenoid rarely goes out, but just a little obstruction in the screens will put your engine into limp mode making it LOOK like the whole assembly is bad.

My top bolt is rounded off idk what to do to get it off
@hxhdfjifzirstc8943 жыл бұрын
They make special sockets for rounded bolts. The sockets have teeth that dig in to the bolt and grip it. Just go to a tool store and ask for help. They'll know what you need. PS your bolt probably got rounded off by using the wrong socket. Use a 6 point socket of the correct size, next time. Not a crescent wrench, either.
