A different design of bearing puller does the job. With plates/blades that slide underneath a bearing.

Yeah my set up took it right off.. these are not usually hard to remove at all. And to get it out is like 6 panel screws and 3 bolts holding the motor. Extremely easy and no reason to NOT do it yourself!

To remove the pulley, hang it between the jaws of a bench vice. Punch the shaft through. No heat needed, just a good club hammer. Job done.

use wood or something so you don't damage the shaft!..

Hi friend, nice video..... although i saw it after i fix it.....;-) First i heat it and put some wd40 and i couldn't pull out the pulley with a small clamp like yours......after that i tried with a big clamp and i pull out the bearing and the bearing pushed the pulley and all together came out..... I was about to leave it and buy a new one.....It was very hard like you say.... (sorry for my english) the replacement bearings cost me 7,5euro.....

Owen, is that a challenge to remove and replace the pulley with a press? Besides that the generator on the scrap proven turbine to took apart a few years ago had no only a tight fit but locktite also, plenty of heat needed, cheers

Hi Andy. I did it a few years ago with heat and a pullers. It’s one of those things, it can be done but I think it would be much easier to come by another motor. Even though we would consider bearings to be a service item, the designers of these machines don’t. Maybe I should build a press!

@@bootsowen Owen, I rescued Uncle Harold's press in my mission to save his machines. A little bit of modification and its just grand. If you get round to it one of these is a real workshop benefit. This one has a 12 ton jack and made from thick wall two inch box, but I think the bigger and thicker the frame the better, cheers

Thank you from 🇨🇦 for all your excellent washing machine videos. I’m in the process of preparing to replace the drum bearings in my circa 2000 GLTF1240AS0 washing machine. Also, the motor bearings and carbon brushes might as well be replaced while the machine is dismantled. In one video you state you purchased size 6201zz (12x32x10mm) for motor rear bearing, and 6202zz (15x35x13mm) for front. This means the motor shaft diameter must increase at some point, for the front bearing, and presumably same for the bearing seat in motor end plate. Is this correct, please?

correction. 6202ZZ; 15x35x11mm.

well disaster struck with great sadness the motor i stripped n cleaned to get rid of carbon dust fab replaced the brushes all seemed fine chk for any leakage path to earth all seemed ok so with that i fitted the motor bck plugged back in turned on fine power into machine good . Went for the big one turned onto quick program wash as it started up lol massive flash then a a bang from the front panel then the lights went off fuse board tripped hey pressto no more washing machine !!!! took the board out massive burnt out track fried components so you got the small smoke puff out the back i got the massive bang n game over version so something must short out in these motors when worn ??

Hi, I am working a washer motor from Frigidaire Washing machine. The motor case is connected with a long screw with a very specialized head, male single slot (opposite of standard flat slot with much thicker width). Have you seen it? I am trying to find a tool for such head, but I can't. If you know anything, please let me know. Thank you.

Just go to a car repair store and use hydraulic press to take out pulley buddy, replace brushes and just rub pumice stone to make motor quiet.. you absolutely don’t need to a new motor ;D

Wrong type of bearing puller, that's why you are having such a hard time. It's an easy job but you need the right tools.

@@antonio_g237I used a 2 claw puller. Took mine off with ease! Use a breaker bar. The bigger the bar the easier the turn. (I did not have to use a breaker bar, but if your hand strength is fading maybe a good idea)

Yeah it's a tough line. Sometimes I have a suitable motor available. Sometimes ya don't. So yeah. I've done bearings many times. It's cheaper if your not worried about labour. But it's not too taxing.
