How to replace water housing in a refrigerator

For some reason it was hard to open the filter cap, I pulled too hard and broke it. I ordered the part from ebay, it's hard to find a good price in amazon. I was able to change it following Andrey's instructions. What a nice guy. My greatest respects. Thanks a zillion!!! Happy recovering America.

Thanks for creating this guide, your video has helped me a lot. To help others, I will mention that I have a Kitchenaid Refrigerator, model KSF26C4XYY03 that takes the WFW10341545 water filter housing. Everything on my fridge looks or is identical to what you are showing in your video, so it made the repair really easy. My problem was with the water dispenser making like a drumroll noise and not letting water through with the filter in place. It worked/tested fine without the filter and as such proved that the water lines are not frozen, the activator switch and the water inlet valve was working OK, so I just had to replace the water filter housing. Now everything is back to normal! Thanks again :)

this was a very helpful video. My water housing was not broken but the outlet tube head was cracked. I think this would do to a bad replacement filter. I had replaced the filter and it started to make a loud wracketing sound, then it started to leak water. The hardest part of the whole job was putting it back together-the last screw on the left was almost impossible. Thank you so much for taking the time to video this repair.

do you know how to reattach the flip door on that filter assembly? we accidentally pulled it off and we cannot figure how to get it back on, where the spring goes were the tab goes, and it's necessary to have the lid on because that's what pushes the old filter out when you're ready to change it. thank you!

i have a similar problem: the filter dioor opens but it doesn't pull the filter out... if you still have the broken part (and you don't mind making another video ;) ) please give us a walkthrough of just what exactly holds the filter in place when that door closes... thanks for this video! i now know how to take the assembly out if it comes to it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for the video! My fridge makes a hammering noise when running the water. I’ve replaced both valves but it still is doing this. Hopefully this fixes it.

There has got to be a tool to remove the lines from the housing. My issue is the door in ejection structure broke. After working with the lines, I figured out a way to eject the filter without the door. I put the housing back but not the shield. Guess I will just use a screw driver to pop the filter out until I have to finally replace the entire thing. Don't think I will be buying another Whirlpool product. (2022 model)

can the elbows on the tubes leading into the top of the housing from the water lines be replaced? One of mine is cracked?

yes they can but keep in mind they are two different sizes.

But don't use a power driver like this - these screws thread into plastic and you can strip them in a heartbeat. Use a nut driver or a socket on the end of a multi-bit screwdriver (preferably magnetic) and remove and replace them by hand. And like he said, watch out for the foam "duct" that's inside the two left hand shroud/cover pieces. It's very thin and fragile Styrofoam - note a chunk is broken out of his, which alters the cold air flow in the refrigerator section and can cause uncontrollably low temps and freezing in the refrigerator compartment, regardless of the refrigerator section temperature setting.
