You didn't mention the bleeder valve on the thermostat. Did you open it? And that your reservoir overflows happens because you didn't bleed the system correctly, and you had coolant boiling over somewhere in the engine, because the thermostat didn't open with too much air in there... That's why it blows out the cap. And you changed everything, pump, thermostat, but not the radiator cap? That cap is part important to control the pressure in your coolant system, i would replace that too.
@XJon20112 жыл бұрын
Seriously, don't forget the radiator cap. My 2010 Acadia had a slight leak in the water pump twice in the 215k miles put on it. Both times, it started to overheat and spill over. Replaced the pump twice, thermostat twice, the coolant twice, AND the real radiator cap twice. The cap was hidden under a plastic cover in the front of the motor. Checking the coolant reservoir didn't give you a read out level of the coolant in the reservoir so you had to check the radiator cap

Amazing vid dude! Well done and excellent step by step guide. One question though, when cleaning for the new gasket I guess don’t worry about residue/cleaning chemicals getting on the inside of the compartment? Noticed my engine is running a little warmer than usual highway at 215-220f guessing thermostat or pump is starting to go bad.
@StayOnTheGas3 жыл бұрын
Be cautious. It’s not good if too much gets in there. It’s best if you spray the rag and then wipe.

Nice job dude, mine boiled over too which freaked me out but I still had some air trapped so I took it to get vacuum filled which fixed the air problem, also worth mentioning theres a bleed screw on the thermostat for anyone who wants to use that to help the bleeding process. Nice video otherwise bro thanks.
@StayOnTheGas3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Yeah I completely forgot to talk about the bleeder on the thermostat housing since I decided not to use it to make a it a super clean process lol. Opening it means coolant spilling out from it and I just wanted a clean job.

Hi. Quick question. I will go in chronology so you can get the best picture: 1. I have 2013 WK2 3.6 2. 87k miles on it. 3. I am original owner. 4. I punctured mu original radiator when I was in Ukraine with the Jeep and after that I went thru 2 radiators more because service was putting in wrong coolant (2013 and Up require Purple coolant, we didn’t know that and were putting in the one for 2012 and earlier) So, I finally replaced radiator myself and put in purple coolant about one year ago. I also replaced the thermostats at the same time because the original had a small crack. After i did all that, the car was fine utilll now (about 15k miles) 5. Couple of days ago I noticed coolant level went down in the reservoir. I also noticed that instead of 195-210 normal operating temperature, the temperature rose to between 215-235. 6. I tried to add more coolant and bleed the system a bit. As I was doing that, I noticed my heater blew air, but not hot air. 7. Thermostat does open when the heater is on, but when I turn the heater off, thermostat kicks in and continues to operate at temperatures 215-235. Sorry for writing so much, but this way you could probably get the best Idea of what is wrong?

I don’t. I just did mine as preventative maintenance. Usually you’ll either see them leak around the actual pump, sometimes the pulley will make noise, and the extreme being that your car overheats.

Did you use a MOPAR water pump or after market for jeep. My 2014 jeep grand cherokee is over heating, the bottom radiator hose is cold, and idk if my radiayor is clogged. I plan on replacing my water pump as well but unsure of the mopar or after market product. Etc please help with advice

Nice video bro , so I have a question , I had a leak on my water pump and changed the gasket too , recently it started to leak again from the same place , what can it be ? I am very frustrated
@StayOnTheGas3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! So if it’s happening again, I’m guessing maybe it has some debris or imperfection in that spot. You might want to take it off again and make sure it’s 100% clean because it has to make very good, clean contact.

Did you just hand tight it, What about the torque specification of each bolt . If you could let us know it's more better.
@StayOnTheGas3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the torque specs of these. I usually always just go till it’s snug and then just give it like a 1/8 to a 1/4 turn because they are thin m6 bolts and can’t handle too much torque. Up to you if you want to follow my method or dig the internet to see if you can find the proper specs. I have put a few thousand miles since and haven’t had any issues.

Hi I’ve seen your videos and I really appreciate the knowledge that you’re sharing with the community, so thank you! I own a 2015 grand Cherokee with a 3.6L V6 Pentstar engine. I have been facing overheating issues lately so I immediately replaced the thermostat, but it did not resolve my problem unfortunately. I changed the coolant and did proper bleeding, but again it did not resolve the issue. So I wanted to check with you on what could cause this overheating? Could it be a faulty Engine Coolant Temp sensor? If yes, where is it located? Note: temp is almost normal when the air con is on. Thank you in advance
