Thanks for walking me through the process. The rod that is connected to the exterior door handle came loose and the door would not open from the outside. I used this video to remove the inner door panel and access the small area behind it. Door works like new and best of all I didn't have to pay a dime to get it fixed! I gotcha. Well it worked this morning. It tends to do this when it gets really hot outside, it won't function. But when it cools off it starts working again. I'm going to grease up the track and hope for the best. Thank you so much for your instructional videos. They have been most helpful!!

I did the exact same job w same setup, but you make it look super easy. I had trouble with every mechanism on the door. then the interior handle fell apart. . Totally lost on the track re-assembly .. . I appreciate this video, helped me get it all back together eventually.

Mike you are awesome, thanks for this video. I own a 2000 Cadillac Escalade, it had a 99 window regulator on it. My issue was when someone broke into it, they bent my regulator. I bent it back, but they also broke the rollers. So after I was finished bending it I couldn't figure out how to get the rollers back into the window lift plate. I called numerous shops and searched Google all over day and night, but this video was the only thing that actually showed me. From 05:13 - 06:40. Thanks

If the weatherstrip around the window is really dry and worn you could try to replace it, or even spray a little silicone spray on it to help the window glide a little easier. You may also want to remove the door panel and make the window go up and down to see if the window regulator is getting jammed or stuck from some reason. Hope this helps you out.

You may be able to leave the regulator in and clean all of the broken glass inside of the door. Usually you would need to go through the top of the door with the new glass, depending on the truck you may need to put one corner of the glass in first and angle it in. Hope this helps you out.

We currently do not sell a window regulator for the rear door on that truck. You could either use similar rivets to attach it back to the door or some small 1/4 screws.

You may be able to slide the window up and into place to access any bolts that may hold it in place.

@eramirez189 If you are using the hand remote that is how it works. Push the button once and the driver door unlocks push it again all the doors unlock. If it is not that simple then try replacing one of the door lock actuators and see if that helps 1 door. If so replace them all.

Unfortunately we do not have a video on the speaker install but the door panel removal is going to be the hardest part of putting in new speakers.

It could if it's broke. You may also want to check the window switch if you can't physically see anything wrong with the window regulator.

You could try to put some white lithium grease on the regulator channel to see if that helps to speed it up.

If there's power to the door lock actuator, the actuator may have gone bad. I'm not sure what model your 94 GMC is but if you go to our website 1aauto.com we sell new door lock actuators. Hope this helps you out.

@mexdogg74 Remove the fasteners for the regulator slide the entire regulator and window assembly down so you can reach the bolts that attach the regulator to the window.

It may be the window motor. You could try to grease the window regulator track with white lithium grease, and you could also try to spray the window weatherstrip with silicone spray to see if that speeds them up. It could be a couple of things, if the window doesn't go all of the way down, the window regulator may be broke inside of the door. You may want to check it. I would test the power to the switch with a test light to see if it is getting power to it. If it's not, check the fuses and also the wire harness between the door and the body of the truck for a broken or frayed wire. If the cable is hung up on something, you would need to free up the cable to enable the window to slide down.

well the hard part is gettin the son of a bitch outta there, i imagine once that panel is out the removal and replacement of the regulator is just a matter of drilling out rivets and re-riveting.

Great video.. i would like to add regarding the regulator ...WATCH OUT when you drill out the rivets for the motor.. that thing is under a high tension spring. it almost killed me when i popped out the last rivet.. then almost broke my hand when it snapped back trying to install the motor. i finally got it all back together but the way i did it was pretty skethcy : ) funny thing too was that there was no mention of this in the instructions that came with the new motor... so obviously i missed something. Good luck and be careful!

i had to do that a couple times on my old 97. had to do the window, regulator, panels, latch, rod, inner and outer handle, was a mess. needless to say everything worked a whole lot better afterward. i fixed everything at once but it all go at once. inner handle froze then broke. someone tried to break in, broke outer handle and window, then the latch seized up and the rods bent.

So after drilling out the rivets, what will then keep that piece in its' spot after replacing the regulator? Also, my truck has rivets holding the speaker in, so what would be the most practical way to hold the speaker in after that?

@thirdstreettito Mine was stuck in the up position so what I did was turn the ignition key to power up the switch while holding the window switch in the down position (may need a helper) I took a small hammer and tapped the motor which kicked on and lowered the window.. Try this first!!

HI Keith, We currently do not have a video that shows this repair. Usually you need to remove the glass from the window regulator, then remove the glass out of the top of the door window opening. You can attach the new regulator with rivets like factory did, or most people just use some small nuts and bolts that will fit securely in there. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I had to replace the drivers side door on my 1998 gmc 1500 extcab. Old door was manual, new one is power. Can I run new wire and fuse and hook the window up like that? Or do I need something that is not in the door already, like a regulator or something? What wires on the harness are for the drivers window? I am not worried about lock or mirror or anything else just the drivers side window.

You might be able to. You may also want to check the factory harness to see if there's a place to plug the door harness in. If there is, you might be able to find a used factory harness in the salvage yard, or on EBay for it. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
