On a Mercedes-Benz the additional battery or auxiliary battery controls the operation of the automatic stop/start, but it is the main battery that turns the car on, so if the main battery is bad, the car will not turn it self off automatically. The car will tell you on the dash when it needs a replacement of the additional/auxiliary battery.
On newer Mercedes and BMW vehicles it is necessary to register your battery. You will need a scan tool to do this. If you have one is very simple. It is also a good idea to get one if you do not have one. The battery has to be registered because the computer knows the age and condition of the battery. As the battery gets older it needs to be charged differently than a new battery. The alternator will cook the battery by aggressively charging it.

Strap 23 Nm = 17 ft lbs
Battery terminals 6 Nm = 53 in lbs
With ignition off, store the key fob away from the car. At least 7 ft away or 2m
When taking the vent tube off be careful, as the battery vapors emitted will damage surrounding components. It's a good practice to cover it and rout it correctly
Always check for damage on cable or terminals
Negative is usually black and positive is usually red or check on the battery + or - signs
Never let your tool touch any metal while removing the terminals, could cause spark, damage and/or may even get the tool welded to the terminals, specially if you touch both terminals with the tool
Tuck your terminals out of the way so they don’t bounce back and get in contact with the terminals again
Always start with the negative terminal first
Cover the positive cable so it doesn’t touch any metals
If your battery has vents make sure they go back on the battery
Always seat the terminals all the way down. Don’t pound the terminals on, because it can cause internal damage
Always pay attention to torch specs. Some terminals are very fragile
Check on the fabrication dates when you buy it. Month and year. No later than a month built.

Was trying to figure out a way to keep the settings. Jumpbox in the video was a great idea. Another if you don't have a Jumpbox, is to use jumper cables and connect the vehicle being worked on to another car's battery. Worked like a charm for me.

So after you install the battery you missed a very important step. You need to register the battery with a scan tool or its charges to aggressively in the beginning of the batteries life and it wont last as long. Also if the after market battery you choose is specced different like the amps or whatever which they usually are you need to tell your computer system that or you can run into a lot of problems potentially. Ive made the same mistake and just now figuring out how crucial that step is with these newer mbs.

one last thing when you use a agm battery it needs the vent system im pretty sure. You also have to cap it off yourself on the opposite end like this or else it releases gas in your trunk that will make all the terminals corrode. kzbin.info68Sa1gNf3G4?feature=share

Hey thank you so much for your comment. I did miss it in the video. I did however add it to the video’s description box. And I did the registration on my car. The aftermarket battery has the same specs as the original battery.

Thank you so much for your comment. The jumper box was on. If you are doing it with a car. Both cars have to be off, because the battery is already giving you the power needed. But you have to make sure you don’t short anything because you’ll have problems with both cars. If you can just get a jumper box. They have some smaller ones that are very good and you can keep it in the car

Thank you so much for your comment. I will work on it. If you need to do it right away. I would go ahead and do it. It’s simple. Just take the covers off in the truck. The pump is seating on the left side, you’ll see it laying sideways. It’s black and has a white connector. If your car came with a sound woofer it has to come out as well, since it’s right behind it.
