When you have limited center serving sizes on hand, I'll show you a trick on how to get the best nock fit possible. Replacing your center serving on your bow is quite easy, but you need to make sure your nock fit is correct. I show you how to make the nock fit perfect with limited supplies on hand.

I was going to reserve my first center serving today. How lucky one person can be? :D Great techniques and very detailed, as always. Thanks!

Greetings Jake. As a humble stringmaker I have to say that this vídeo is great. A good tip is to always put the serving in the same way that the string winds as you say. And for the end stop winding 5mm before the black mark and do a reverse wind 10x. Greetings from Bariloche

Thanks for this helpful video! It would be great to have one of how to build a string complete with servings and the things to watch out for as an recurve archer!

For those of us that make our own strings there's very little info out there. This has been great. I hope you'll make some more videos on the topic. Or if you're not confident maybe include that string maker that you gave your material to. Or some other expert on the topic. Just a suggestion. Love the vids. Love being a patron too.

Nice! Thanks! I'm so so excited to see them. I've been making strings for a few weeks now just in my off time. I've made about 10 and it wasn't until this last one that I finally got it right... At least pretty close.

That's given me some ideas. I love serving strings, and have always used the first method that you don't like using. I'm going to use a polished nail sightly below the termination point of the serving to split the string, and use the same method as you use to start the serving. Awesome. I'd love to know what you feel about using monofilament for serving, I've found that I can get very good feel from them, but they wear out fast.

Great information and delivery as always. I don't see a link for the serving jig used though. Can you be so kind to provide more information since I can't seem to find it based on the audio which sounds like "biter"? Thank you for sharing all of your experience and knowledge!

I am a left hand shooter, does it matter which direction I twist my string and which direction the serving go? Great video!!

Great as usual Jake. Especially as a leftie. Nobody thinks to mention serving four left handers. What crawl distance do you use for 25m Jake? Not sure if mine is too much!

Another way I use if my nocks are too loose is to use dental floss (rather than dental tape that I use for making the nocking points) to build up the thickness of the serving. I've also used spare bow string material for doing both the nocking point and the nock serving between the nocking points. Where the serving material has been too thick (no-longer an issue), but the nocking points are good, then I have fixed them with superglue, then with a scalpel, removed the serving between the nocking points, and re-served with dental tape.

Could you do a video on serving a Flemish twist bow string. I cannot find a video where anyone shows where they’re actual starting and stopping and so on.

So this is serving an already-twisted string. Are strings originally twisted before being served or are thry served, then the twists put in.

I'm beginning to dislike you, Jake K. Just about every time I think I have 'it' nailed . . . . . well then, there y'go with EVEN MORE HARD WON PRAC-TICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS !! :-D I just hope that the personal/built-in hard disk drive I was born with isn't filling up - 'cuz if it is, I'll soon be deleting years of happy childhood memories to make room for this good stuff. Does that make me a bad man??

Thanks Jake! Got a custom string from 60x with red servings, and they decided that on recurve strings, all center servings need to be black for whatever reason. So now the first thing I get to do with my $50 bowstring is reserve the damn thing to match the ends. Why tf is a custom string defaulted to black centers no matter what?? Like seriously, that’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever experienced as a consumer

i just made 3 strings for my fita bow one is 16 strands of 8125 and one with 16 strands of 652 spectra also one with 16 strands of fastflight. the end serving is halo and i will use halo for the center as well. this will be used on an uukha 27 riser with long uukha limbs my draw length is 31". my questions are 1 how many twists should i put in the string? i have heard 30 my old joad instructor said 12 and 2, should i put the center serving on before or after its twisted? also i have heard the serving should be 2 inches above the nock and to the bottom of the grip. thanks for your input

You want the serving to start at least 2" above your knocking point and to finish below where the string makes contact with your bow arm after the shot. To make life easy I find and mark the middle of the string, I then measure up 3.5-4" and start serving down from there for 8-9".
