I really appreciate that you listed all of the socket sizes for each location. It'll make the job that much faster.

How tight are you torqueing the anode bolts? Especially the trim hydraulic manifold because it has a gasket. I can't find any specs on these. Thanks in advance.

What about the rubber plug that comes in the kit? Where does that go?

Is that the plug that goes into the hole where you reached the cavity plate anode nut, I'm glad there's one in the kit, I've long lost that plug

Mercruiser MERC Alpha One Outdrive Lower Trim Tab Fin . Without the fin the boat will pull to one side due to the torque. Curious why you did not use the anode with a fin.

You are correct that using the anode with the fin can improve your handling, though this is most critical in an application without power steering. This boat in the video had power steering, so using the flat anode instead of the anode with the fin had little impact on performance. Additionally, the flat anode is the standard one used on Alpha One Gen II models (though the version with the fin can certainly be used). The Martyr anode kit we used in this video included the flat anode. But if you observe that the version with the fin performs better, we would certainly recommend that you choose that option. Replacement of either style of anode would work the same way as depicted in the video.

can i ask what you used to stick the gasket in place? cheers

Nothing is used to hold the gasket in place. Put both bolts through the anode and slide the gasket onto the two bolts. Then screw both bolts in simultaneously.

@@onemoreboat It looks like there was some kind of black grease or sealant squeezed out when he push the gasket up and on to the drive, is that incorrect?
@onemoreboat
@onemoreboat Жыл бұрын
@@J2005ification I don't use anything on the gasket. I guess you could use something to hold it in place but I don't. A lot of the ones that I put on the boat is in the water so nothing is going to hold it in place under water. I slide both the bolts through the anode, slide the gasket onto the bolts and then screw both the bolts on at the same time.

How often should you replace the anodes? Or do you go by how corroded it is by a visual inspection?
@Marinepartssource
@Marinepartssource 11 ай бұрын
Hi Robert, In general, sacrificial anodes should be inspected at least once a year and replaced when they have corroded down to 50% of their original size or weight. For boats that are used heavily or operate in highly corrosive water, anodes may need to be replaced more frequently.
