Great call with the ratchet strap. I didn't have a second set of hands so I hooked it under the back seat and put a block of wood on the seat itself so I didn't tear the vinyl. Ratcheted it down and the belt is super snug now and it starts like a dream. Looked in there one last time and realized I got the belt twisted while putting it on. Fail on my part, but at least I know how to do it now!

I have a 2006 club car xrt810 and I can’t get the starter belt tight enough, I’ve tried everything except a ratchet strap. I’m going to try it tomorrow, I hope it works, it seems like a great idea

It is pretty difficult, the tool club car recommends is a type of pry-bar that is designed specifically for this use. I think since posting this video, we ended up making ourselves a tool for it. I hope the strap works for you. Thanks for watching.

Great video thanks! I bought a 96 ds and the belt looks new, but it squeals quite often on startup? thoughts?

mine squeals bad as well. I think its the clutch going bad! when It gets goin it runs great but at start up the noise is terrible! not a 100% sure though don't have much experience with carts

actually just replaced the starter generator belt and took all the squealing and delay out of start up. Mine looked new as well but when I took it off and compared to the new one it was stretched out a lot.

I have same squeeling at start up. going to replace belt and adjust ...the clutches seem to last on these...so Ive been told. we shall see.. thanks for posting

That belt needs a load of tension to stop pulley slip... A tensioner arm or adjuster would have improved design. I made a lever rod to pull tension. As nut tightened. Plus a lift out panel in body to access motor .. Plus try and get a high quality original grade belt as chinese knock offs not as user friendly.

Been having trouble with 98 Club Car starter belt it keep getting lose and slipping off. Replaced with a new belt and same thing happened. Can you recommend a specific belt that is meant for the cart? TY
