You just saved me a ton of time by showing the pitman arm and mentioning that it’s a non-serviceable part. Dude that did my alignment said it needed to be replaced along with center link, idler arm, and steering damper because they’re all worn out but it doesn’t make sense to replace the pitman arm since it’s a solid piece with no moving parts. No wonder they don’t make replacements for a 96 Cadillac Fleetwood! I will be tackling this project on my own now and probably saving about $1,000 thanks to the information in this video!

You only need to change the pitman on these if its bent or damaged

Just wanted to say thanks for this video. First time doing this and really helped out a lot with getting familiar with the parts attached to it. Thanks

This really helped me do my 65 Impala's centerlink! Thanks for posting! I got the tie rod removal tool and Pitman arm pickle fork both from Autozone loaner tool program... :)

That's how I ended up with my steering wheel puller. I've had to use it over and over so many times! :)

Yup I bought one of them too. Its a saver if you ever have to remove the ignition cylinder at weird hours of the night I got a nice OTC one, old one made in USA. I had to buy J hook adapters for it for the newer whee;s w/o threaded puller holes

I just bought a new new center link for my 77 grand prix and noticed it did not come with the foam gaskets, just rubber boots. Do I need to have the foam gaskets ? Or can I just use the rubber boots. This part was made by a company called rare parts

Yea it should have some sort of seal in there to keep water out I had a arm once split the seal and it wore out in 10,000 miles.

Caprice and roadmaster are the same right? Was told my center link is loose in my roadmaster. Along with stabilizer links and idler arm lol. It's a '92. Parts are just 30 dollars for all so I'm gonna tackle it myself instead of paying the shop 490. Screw that.
