Echeveria Agavoides variety is notorious for being difficult succulent to look after. Been growing succulents for the past 6 years and in my experience, Echeveria Agavoides are one of the easiest Echeveria varieties to care for.

Some pots that already have small hole, I tend to drill bigger holes if used on rosette forming divas.

Take care while watering repotted succulents. I usually like to water them gradually. No water for 24 - 48 hours. After that slightly mist the top surface. Again after 1 or 2 days water more. And after that water when soil gets dry.

Hi LizK, thank you for this! Question: is there a rule about how large of a pot to use for replanting? I have a pot that's quite a bit larger than what my echeveria is currently in, but not sure if it's too big.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 9 ай бұрын
Depending on the variety, slightly larger pot is best to give the plant room to grow.

So another succulent lady I watch sits her plants out to dry for a day before planting, then says to wait another day to water. She said roots are stressed & need to heal. Her plants are pretty, but yours are just spectacular. Just making sure it’s safe for beginners to water after planting?

Different succulent under different condition has different needs and therefore should be treated differently. This video is for this specific succulent which is Echeveria agavoides Sirius. I don't advice to do this to an E. Agavoides Romeo but will do it to an E. agavoides Rubin.

Hi Liz, I love your videos, Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your beautiful collection. Could you recommend an alternative for granite in your soil mix? Apparently it's in short supply here in Melbourne 😢... Is scoria suitable perhaps? Thank you and keep them coming 😉
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
Since decomposed granite is made up of different minerals, I suggest using pumice, scoria, basalt or zeolite as alternative but it's important to get the ratio right. The video below will hopefully help. Using CRUSHED GRANITE in LizK Succulent MASTER Soil Mix | GSwLK - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYXJqZqBfdCchbc

Thank you for another very informative video. I havent yet got clarity about the succulents that we get online. Some are with very long dried up roots. Are they alive or dead? Do we keep them long or prune them up and later soak in seaweed? Thanku
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
Even a really dehydrated wrinkly one can still be revived. I never say die until it's really dead. 🤓 If the roots are too long, I trim halfway. This anchors the plant better and a lot of times with a lot of succulents, new roots grow from the ends of the old roots.

Thank you Liz for recommending the Seasol solution. I wasn't able to purchase it because it's only available in Australia, but I was able to find something very similar and it has made my NO ROOTS from China root faster! I don't know why the succulents from Korea take forever to grow roots rather than the succulents from China? Strange. Blessings to You, Hubby & Baby P 🥰
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
It depends on the succulent. Some are dormant when you buy them and can take a long time to root. For example, a summer dormant plant when trying to root when temperature is high will take longer to root. They are best potted up in moist soil and left to their own device until the temperature goes down which kick start their growing season.
@helenmurillo3572

Hi Lizk. I have heard that flower stalks( not leaves on the stalk, but the stalk itself) can be propagated. If you have ever tried, can you please do a video on that? Thanks.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
Certain succulents grow from flower stalk also. My very first Echeveria Imbricata propagation was a flower stalk. I always say, waste not, want not so it's a good idea to stick a couple of short stalks (2 inches) into the soil and wait & see. Good luck.

Mam does the green hens snd chicks close in summer or not???
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
Hens & Chicks refers more to Sempervivum which is summer dormant and produce lots of offsets or babies from the side of the plant. This is Echeveria agavoides which doesn't close off. This is how a normal plant grows/look, and this is mostly solitary rosette. It usually takes a long time to produce offsets or babies.

When getting new plants I repot and I can water ?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can depending on the plant condition and how dry the soil is. Since the soil from this plant is still wet/moist when I removed it from the pot, then the plant doesn't mind if it gets watered/soaked after repotting.

All my research shows that it’s good to put a top dressing on succulents. There is some telling me not to put rocks on top because it’ll cause root rot & plant can’t breath. It’s so confusing. Is there an instance where you shouldn’t put a top dressing?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
It all depends on the type of dressing and also the soil mix used. I top dress all my succulents grown in pots with granite. This enables the plants to breath and also take in nutrients from the granite itself when watered. It also prevents making a mess when watering.

Many people say that you're supposed to wait a week (or so) after you repot a plant to water because a freshly repotted plant will have its root damaged and watering immediately encourages root rot. Is this not true?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
Watering after repot depends on the type of plant/succulent, condition and how dry the soil is. Since the soil from this plant is still wet/moist when I removed it from the pot, then the plant doesn't mind if it gets watered/soaked after repotting.
