If you repress without alcohol you need to make sure you grind down the shadow into fine pieces or it will NOT hold up to drops/little bumps. I recommend scraping into a separate glass or metal container and using a spoon or other round bottom utensil to really crush up the shadow, grinding them down into smaller pieces. You want to mimic a mortal and pestle (if you have mortar and pestle use that instead). Doing it this way in the video will work for emollient shadows but not for mattes or other shimmer formulas that don’t have as much binder. If you’re dry pressing mattes, use printer paper and not a tissue and use a flat bit of plastic or metal in the shape of the pan to get an even press. If the press isn’t even, the matte shadow will crack and fall out of the pan. A nice thing about dry pressing is that you don’t accidentally hard press it and render the shadow unusable or difficult to use. I prefer to dry press my mattes because of this.

I love repressing in general but I feel like I have more success with dry pressing than with liquid! Thank you for your comment! 😘

Thanks for the tips about mattes! I was looking through this whole video and thinking it'll only work for shimmers/emollient shadows that already have nice amount of binder in them. Mattes definitely are finicky to repress. Last time i tried, i ruined some lovely wnw mattes by hard pressing them with alcohol. It even changed the colour on one :( I'll try the dry pressing technique you described next attempt!

@@404name this is old but I'm hoping you see this. Does adding something like the inglot duraline help with making them last? I know it makes shadows turn to liquid but if it dries maybe....? I don't know. I just want them to be safe for travel after repressing.

You’re a lifesaver. I was able to grab an Ouma quad palette on clearance for $1.25 (thanks for the tip, Tati!) but because it was broken on shimmer shade it wasn’t the prettiest but figured I could repress it. Worked like magic.

Thank you 🥰 I don't think that I will continue to create tutorials! There are many reasons for this decision! The two main ones are that my eyes got so irritated by the bright lights and also by doing my eye makeup more than once a day to be able to film and the other one is that I felt pretty burnt out with this kind of content. The overhead videos are giving my creativity more room and they are easier to integrate into my daily life at the moment so I will stick to them for now! 💛

I have a broken (shimmer) eyeshadow and am considering repressing it the way you have. Can you tilt the pallette upside down afterwards without the eyeshadow falling out? Also after having used it up for a bit?

This is not a very recent video but in case you or anyone else sees this...do you know any palette from another brand that has those exact colors from the original palette? I love the original color story and it's exactly what I'm looking for, but my eyelids apparently are sensitive to makeup revolution shadows.

The most similar color stories I have seen in the Natasha Denona Glam Palette (you just get a lot of other shades as well in there and the only things missing are the bright silver and the lavender), the Colourpop Blowin Smoke and the Abh Sultry as well but none of them has the lavender shade in them! I am sure there are many more out there! I think BH Cosmetics has some pretty similar color stories as well! But all of them are just neutrals!

Those are specifically the colors I'm missing, I settled on singles but after seeing them all in this palette I'm sooooo tempted to try it ugh it's so compact too. Why can't high end brands dupe duping brands lol anyway thank you!

With some formulas it does and with some not! But overall you have to work in more and thinner layers! I am going to film a video about it soon! 😉
