When I was at university my dissertation supervisor told me to "start writing..... Just write and stop the research" as I was overwhelmed by researching and was convinced I still hadn't researched enough. My supervisor was so right. I just needed to actually make a start and the rest would take care of itself. Turned out I loved writing my dissertation.

Learning when to stop researching is indeed as important a skill as learning how to research. My supervisor said this to me, and I often have to say it to my grad students.

I feel so dumb when it comes to research! I don't know why but I have a really hard time knowing where to start, and how to find more information . . the main research 'habit' (if you could call it that) is simply just asking google the question, but many times that can be hard find what I need and I want to change that! Being able to find your own information and do valuable research is such an important skill for everything, its definitely something I could improve upon!

To get through my bachelor’s, I had to learn to write without relying on research. To read my annotated bibliography, then forget about it. It helped me to mentalize and direct my research in the direction I wanted it to go. If I researched and then changed as I went along, I would fear plagiarizing again. That being said, that was where my writing was leaning toward in grad school.

My college requires an English class called 'college writing and research' which went pretty in depth with how to research your papers. It was definitely helpful, but I think if it hadn't been reinforced by the other classes that I took (additional English classes) that I would be quite lost when I move onto university. I can't imagine that being the only class that I took that talked about it, but I know that's the case for a lot of students. I still found some really helpful points here, though, and I look forward to checking out the rest of your series. I REALLY liked that you focused on being efficient and effective when doing your research. That is something my research and writing class didn't really focus on . . . They focused a lot on finding sources in the first place, but I remember feeling super bogged down by all the content I was finding and feeling like I needed to read all of it so those are definitely things to keep in mind. Thanks for the video!

I'm WAY OFF the target audience for your video, as a middle schooler who is in (almost) all aspects clueless about his future. I write for fun, and love getting into research. In your essay video, you said "I should write every essay as though I'm writing a letter to a dear friend who has no bloody clue what I'm talking about." I talk... plenty to my friends about my near obsessions and rabbit hole descents that take up much of my time: David Bowie, silent films, ABBA, Federico García Lorca (that's a new one!), Ouran High School Host Club, Oscar Wilde, and tidbits of history/pop culture. I want to take the next step further by introducing these extraordinary people, projects, and events to more than just half-interested circles in my small school. And writing is one of the ways I will express these topics. To do so, I'll have to change my approaches to non-fiction writing. I'm a very disorganized but passionate thinker. Your tip about writing and researching really stood out to me, and I find most of your tips helpful, so I've taken the time to jot down your advice in my notebook. I hope to fill the rest of the pages with my stories, essays, and drawings that will (hopefully) bring others as much happiness as they bring me. Thank you! And one day I might use the college advice, too.

A lot of your videos are titled with questions that can be answered by 'Billy' Eduard Albert Meier (BEAM) & The Plejaren. Billy Meier is 86 years old and has written over 60 books (all German, some of them bilingual, with German on the left side and English on the right). There are people who spend everyday of their lives studying his material, which collectively is called "The Spiritual Teaching." He also has contact reports with the Plejaren, which has lasted for decades and will continue until the year 2029.
