THIS 100% FIXED OUR 2019 F150 LARIAT. We were towing a ultra-light travel trailer and had transmission "chugging"/loss of power/RPMs not adjusting to gears. Did the first method shown here exactly and we are now rolling again without any issues. thank you!

We just replaced the lead frame in the tranny of my 2011 5.0 F150. New fluid is in at the correct levels, but it’s still shifting a little hard in gears 2 and 6. Could resetting the computer be a fix, or just time driving it around?

Shouldn’t have to be reset more than maybe once once you do it it should slowly learn your driving pattern like the video said might take some days depending how much you drive but it’ll get it down and run off that but 2 to 3 times is over doing it transmission won’t learn anything

I'm gonna try this later today, will post results tomorrow in the same thread. For the sake of others who may find this comment, I have a 2012 Ford Focus SEL, 110k miles. So far the symptoms have just been occasional difficulty shifting gear (the stick), delayed shifting into reverse (I move the stick, but the car takes 2 secs or so to actually idle backwards), and strange timing when shifting gears while driving (usually it waits too long, but I've had it shift suddenly a jerk a bit once or twice). Replacing the TCM myself would cost $900 with about $300 returned to me if I exchange the old TCM. But to save myself $600 I want to try resetting it first. Also of note, I know it's a recalled part, but the local Ford dealership is horrible (for many reasons) and refuses to go ahead and replace it under warranty until the car actually locks up and shows a TCM fault. So in order to keep my car from locking up at all (and saving myself the cost of a rental), I would like to take care of things ahead of time. Hence why I am here. So hopefully I will have the same luck as the 563 people who liked this video before me. As I said above, I will post results as a reply to this comment. Initial response will be tomorrow when I've driven it a bit. After that, I will only come back if things go poorly.

It does feel somewhat better, more noticeable at higher speeds. Haven't had the issues I was having, but it's also only been a day. Anyway, if I haven't added to this thread, assume the problem is fixed.

2013 Escape. My project is trying to disconnect the negative battery cable in order to "reset" the transmission scheme. Will disconnecting the battery neg / ground where it is bolted to the firewall enough to clear out & "reset" the transmission scheme memory settings, or will the cable connected at the negative battery post need to be disconnected too?

Hi there, before the battery disconnect method, did you try the other methods I mentioned? To effectively reset the transmission adaptive settings on your 2013 Ford Escape, you should disconnect the negative battery cable directly from the battery post, not just where it bolts to the firewall. Disconnecting it at the post ensures that all electrical circuits are fully interrupted, which is necessary for a complete reset of the transmission memory settings.

If your battery is mounted partially under the engine shroud undo the secure bracket and move the battery forward so you can reach the negative post.
