I started following your channel years ago when Miss A first joined your family. Now I'm a soon to be foster parent myself (my license was sent to the state for approval on Friday!). Thanks for sharing so much of your journey over the years.

I remember when Ariana (ah! So weird not to call her Miss A!) moved out and the room seemed so bare. I'm glad other kids/teens have been able to stay in it when they needed a place. (Not glad they needed to be in care, but glad they had a safe place to land when it was needed). You put so much love and care into the room, and I'm sure the kids/teens staying in it can tell.

I love that you take the time to make the foster feel like this is their HOME and their own room, no matter how long they'll be staying with you. It's also great that you have the room ready to go for a placement, perfect for those times a case worker wants to bring a child to you with an hour's notice

I appreciated your commentary on why this is so important! It led to another question - at some point can you discuss how you talk about previous placements either with current placements or when current placements are present?

Great point! I'll add it to my list of topics.

I appreciate all the effort you put into making your home welcoming for the kids! For a future video could you possibly talk about how educators can best approach and support foster kids and parents from the perspective of a foster parent? I’m a teacher at an alternative school for kids with behavior issues and see a good number of teens in the foster system. I sometimes struggle with whether to contact the foster parent or contact the case worker, especially if the child is moving placements a lot. Some foster parents report feeling overwhelmed or not supported by their agency and I don’t want to add to their stress by giving too many calls about attendance, failing grades, behaviors, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks for all that you do!

The stipend is a 'reimbursement' that is why it comes a month later. Because it is a 'reimbursement', it does not count as income. But, it does mean you have to provide for a month+ of expenses before receiving money. Some people get an emergency clothing allotment sooner and some get no emergency clothing allotment. Depends on county/agency.
