I worked in a school... i learned this child needed a foster placement. i talked to my bosses and they were all for it. Then come 9 months later, just before christmas, they told me i had to choose between my job and her. walked out at that point. i cannot believe someone can do that.

I walked away from my phone, while KZbin was playing for about 15 seconds, and came back to this video. I’m watching it.

Love your videos! I’m 25 and have been watching your videos since Ms. A was placed with you. I just started the process for foster care and in the middle of the background check. These videos are super helpful and love that you mention the benefits and hardships of being a foster parent! Thankfully I work for the fed gov’t and we are given 3 months of parental leave a year for foster placements, I can’t imagine I will take the full 3 months with my first placement but hearing your experiences gives me a better timeline of what I can tell my employer!

I love your videos, I wish the system did not pay more for complex care children. Because we see more family members say they want to take them but then don’t care for them.

I think if they provided enough money so you could at least work part time or stay home. Or if child care was included with the placement, a lot more people could foster care. I am assuming that they don't pay for day care for the children, so the foster parents can work? But, seems like that would make a lot of sense. Especially pay for after school care or care in the summer.

It should be a requirement that one parent stays home. Otherwise, what's the point of fostering if someone else is raising your child??
@whychoooseausername4763 Жыл бұрын
You can apply that question to parenting in general. For the entirety of human history, we've entrusted the care of our children to others. "It takes a village" isn't just a cute phrase, it's reality. Research shows that children develop as well if not better when there is a diversity of caregivers.

If you foster school age children, there really is no need for someone to be home every week day between 8 AM and 4 PM.

That's why I chose to homeschool. God entrusted my daughters to ME to raise in the fear and admiration of the Lord, not the government.
@kytruth1027 Жыл бұрын
@@teresaschaeffer7323 agreed!! Why take in a child if you're just going to be completely absent and leave them to others to raise? Especially with all the abuse happening in public schools nowadays. It just doesn't make sense. Unfortunately, in some states kids are required to be public school. It just proves that the govt is the biggest enemy for children.
