Had the security light permanently on, but my truck would start and run. Your procedure worked on my ‘98 GMC, but my security light would never turn off after turning ignition to run. However, none the less, when I put the key in ignition for the forth time actually starting the truck, it finally turned off. 👍

What does a flashing light mean? 2005 ion no crank , no start, thanks ,nice video.1👍👍🏁 I figured it out , no crank , no start , no gauges. I thought bcm , but found the 10 Amp fuse at the battery for ecm. The fuse was good but the fuse socket was corroded. So when you check fuses make sure to check the fuse socket. Simple things first. Starts now and runs fine , and all gauges are working.

First, he says wait 10 seconds. He then says 10 minutes and back to 10 seconds again within a 30 minutes period. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to wait 10 minutes in between, three times within 30 minutes.

My ignition cylinder was going to shit, pins kept jamming so I removed the piece that prevents it from turning so now a screw driver or what ever can start my truck. Afterwards the pass-lock light came on and it doesn't effect my truck at all (what a great security feature) just bugs me. I tried the pass-lock reset procedure and your method but neither work, it wont turn off, stays solid even after a hour+. Would a new cylinder even fix this or should I just put a sticker over it and pretend it isn't there?

On my 99 Chevy Astro you have to do the following. Turn to on position then wait for security light to stop flashing the “check gages”is on but just wait for security light to stop flashing. Then do the same wait the 10 seconds in between cycling thru the on position. Security light stop flashing but still solid red 3Xs then start her up and you can now be on your marry way!

None of these ideas like this one worked. What I did was I disconnected the battery. Since I have another car I left it disconnected for about a month. Before I connected the battery I put the key in the ignition and put it on the on position, and just in case I put the other key in the door lock. After I connected the battery I tried to start it. It started right up. Thank God it worked. The dealership wanted 140 just to look at it.

Not sure if this will work for everybody, but after trying all these tips, I disconnect both battery cables, connect a battery charger/jumper to the cables only, leaving battery away from cables. start it up. this procedure resets the anti theft system. the chevy dealer said they have no fix nor did gm. I reconnected the battery cables to battery and tried again. it started with keys and the fob. good to go.

I could be mistaken, but I believe you actually turned off the security system. I've watched vids on how to turn off the security system for when you do an LS swap. It's done the same way. It takes 30 mins to do.

I hope it helps mine, i just did my throttle body and i drove it to the store and i had a battery drain from the passenger door saying its ajar all the time, so i unhooked it when i got to the store. When i came back hooked it up and went to start it it starts for a second then dies and just cranks after, no blown fuses i have fuel pressure almost 50 psi, my injectors arent pulsing when i crank it though

I tried the same steps that you said to do on my car but it didn't work. In the beginning of the video you had 121474 milage and in the end of the video it said 121965, I think you pulled out the red wire out of the head on top of the battery.

You have to complete three shut offs of the steady security light or LCD orange box [after year 1999.5]. After about 30+ minutes have past the forth turn of key is to start it up . The ex\lamation was done as English second language, thus the imperfect explanation.

Just paid 1033.00 bucks to Chevy dealer to get the passport fixed. Ran great for about a month and a half. Started missing and just running bad and one day it just died in my driveway. Well if I take it back to dealer they will charge me and I am not paying that amount. Tried the 3 ten minutes trick no go. Cranks fine it is back in disabled mode. Any ideas anybody? I could sure use a few different opinions at this point. Thanks

My passlock light wouldn't go out to begin this "great reset". I fixed it with the following. I cleared a code from the Powertrain partition of PCM, I did this with a Launch X431V, unsure if a generic scan tool will do the trick, disconnecting the battery didn't help. My code stored was P1626 Theft Deterrent Start Enable Signal Not Received. After I cleared the code the truck wouldn't start and allowed it to go into the passlock relearn process. Module seller says the key must go to crank position not just to on/run position as this video shows, anyhow after going to crank position then on, waited 10 to 11 minutes and my lock light went out, I was then able proceed with the key dance of, key off 10 sec., crank, key on, wait 10 minutes ish, light goes out, key off 10 sec., crank, key on, wait 10 min, light goes out, key off 10 sec., crank & truck started & light out. I did this with a 7A battery charger maintaining the battery and shutting the headlights off after each crank to keep the battery from going dead. A set of jumper cables off another running car would also work to maintain voltage. Working with a 2005 Tahoe, I replaced PCM for bad vent valve driver in PCM, truck wouldn't pass evap IM test. Another one out of my bay, awesome!

My 03 Silverado replaced window switch, PCM, Crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor but won"t start. Is it passlock II? Does this truck have a chip hidden inside key?

@@richiethesailor629 Hey Rich. NO there is No Chip in the key at all. You can goto a local hardware store and have a metal key made and it will work. Anti theft chips pretty much came to an end for most GM Vehicles before 2000 if im correct. I have a 1994 Caddy Fleetwood Brougham and you can clearly see the Anti theft chip on the Ignition key. Might I suggest using the keyfob to unlock the vehicle first or if you don't have one goto a scrap yard purchase a used keyfob n goto KZbin and look up your year make and model and reprogram the keyfob to your vehicle its super easy to do. My older GMC Jimmy had a similar issue it turned out the aftermarket remote start system was failing and caused the trucks Antitheft system to prevent the truck from starting.. it would crank but no start. Sorry if I'm rambling it's almost 4:30 am... one more if it's a GM 4.3 V6 and your having start issues after it rains 🌧 replace the distributor and cap with genuine GM cap and rotor or ACDELCO had that start issue as well after using an Accel cap and rotor. Pointing a hair dryer at the cap for 5 + minutes on hi heat setting helped and the truck started might need longer time.. keep the dryer about 4 inches away but pointed at the cap.

@@richiethesailor629 If it's the last suggestion asking if it's a GM 4.3 V6 or 5.0 V8 Vortec engine.. there are many videos on this issue including folks drilling holes thru the base of the distributor base.. apparently there are vents that become clogged that dont let the moisture out causing sparks to go everywhere in the cap when your trying to start a cold engine. most of the other Vortec V6 and V8 owners have had this issue and it has something to do with people using knock off cap & rotors like say Auto Zones Dorman parts and the best fix is to use genuine GM or ACDelco distributor caps and rotors. Hopefully some of this or some of my previous comment helps. If not reach out with a reply and I'll do my best to help. Eddie J.

I found earlier that PCM fuse was out but fuse itself is good?! Got a used fusebox to try but inexperienced and afraid. We fed truck lots of parts so am learning the hard way, slowly. 1. Driving along and everything inside the car goes dead but the 2005 Tahoe keeps driving. 2. I make a hard left turn, and everything comes back on but then dies out again. 3. One day the starter would turn over but wouldn't start. Everything inside is dead. 4. Remembering the left turn deal, I put the key in the on position, everything still dead, I opened the door, grabbed the edge of the roof and started rocking the truck. The interior lit right up, and the radio came on and I was able to start it. 5. The problem would resurface. Do you think it could be a motion detector that is acting up? I have a blank key that will start the truck. Did the previous owner bypass the passkey system?

Could be a bad/corroded ground wire/strap. Check SOUTH MAIN AUTO's channel. If you have a spare key that will start it and it runs fine you should get a duplicate made of the working key IF it's one of those "Smart" key while someone can still duplicate it

@@rickl6697 Read what I wrote and then this. The parking brake release cable bends around a small control unit as it goes to the place where it attaches to the body. Tha cable was leaning against that control unit. When I made a left turn, that cable moved away from the control unit and then when I straightened back out, it leaned back against it. I moved the release handle and cable away from the control unit and it hasn't happened since. The dash had been removed in the past and I think the mechanics didn't put the unit back into its holder securely because why would it have happened after 17 years on the road and not before? I noticed fasteners missing on other things also. It's as if they just shoved everything back in and called it a day.

Even more fine-tuned cause. The dash had been removed for the HVAC selector replacement. Things weren't put back together correctly. That control box clicks into a holder, but it wasn't. It moved around during turns and sported out somehow. I pushed it in and haven't had a recurrence since.
