You are such a legend, I have toyota echo 1999, which has been my daily for the past 3 years and it goes strong every day, This morning I went to start it and it cranked but it just wouldnt start I called my roadside assistance, the guy started off with cleaning the crankshaft sensor, and fiddling with other stuff for about 30 mins Finally, he figured out its the immobiliser, and he said the battery on my key has gone flat and I need to get a new one, I went a got a battery but it still wont start, than he fiddled for another 30 mins and finally said I ll have to tow it to toyota and there is nothing he can do And we all know how those stealers rob you, So I tried this and boom started like a dream Thankyou so much :)

@@5.4weldingtruck I used a paper clip and insert it in the obd reader port.. it's been a while so I can't remember which hole I insert the paper clip I think it's 4 and 13 and turn the ignition to on and let the car sit for 30 min then turn it off and remove the paper clip..do a search on KZbin there's a few videos showing how to do it..

My 05 sienna had a few random times where it wouldn't start because the engine immobilizer wasn't sensing the keys. One day it wouldn't start at all and the immobilizer dash light wouldn't turn off. Did this and it started right up. Thanks!

I had about 20 Camry's and they were all trouble. We have one left and its a pain. Last year the key was lost and we took the key and parts from the second last which had been wrecked. I changed the key with the security module, that wasn't enough, I had to change the TCM module, then I got VSC codes which disabled the hybrid regen. But still it did not work no matter what, no shifter unlock and no steering unlock, so I changed the radio, then the shifter unlocked but not the steering, so then I changed the key button, then the security all went to normal but still no start and no unlock steering, so then I changed the steering lock module then the car started but then set the codes for VSC and hybrid regen again. So after much to do, reset by "paper clip trick" got everything working and the car was good again, but then some ass hole lost the key AGAIN! So now a year later, the car is finally sent to Toyota for the new key, but all they do is program and say its done. All the same shit over again, VSC and hybrid codes which our shop can not reset, only Toyota they say. But I had done this last year but I can't remember the 9 million step procedure with this silly paper clip crap. Last year I had made a button just so I could press it the correct number of times within a certain time frame... Frustrating as hell. Nothing should be difficult! It should be recalled!

If you reset the anti-theft system, do you need to reprogram after the reset? I have been having problems since installing an aftermarket stereo that triggered the anti-theft system. When I did the ignition to on 5x, I was able to start the car, but now have been having slow crank issues ever since. Tested battery, it was fine. Had me going crazy. Do you think reprograming the current ecu will help/possiblt solve my issue?😊

Same here. Just got back from being out of town few days, stopped to get gas, turned off the car, noticed my radio wasn’t playing when it should, and car wouldn’t start anymore; i kept taking the key out/in, by the Grace of God it started, i turned it off, it wouldn’t start again; i filled a full tank of gas, was able to get car started, but gas indicator still showing empty, not full; got home, tried the key out again, engine immobilizer light flashes, very strange behavior....

My aunts car is a 2005 Scion Tc that wont start. But she didn't have that changed. The security light is flashing on the dash. She said it never did that before. I just changed the fuel pump, because I didn't hear it come on. Now I do hear it come on, but it still does not start. Before I changed the fuel pump, I changed the serpentine belt and tensioner. That was a pain to do. I had the battery disconnected. I disconnected the antilock brake system, just to move it a little more, to get room by the motor mount, so I could pull it off, so I could get the tensioner bolt out. I think it needs a bolt a little bit shorter. LOL I wonder if this would help me? IDK I read other people drive their cars with that light flashing. This one will not start. It cranks, but will not start. Just hooked up my scan tool, it says B2796 No communication in immobilizer syatem.

Hello, correct me if i'm wrong, but that looks like pin 5 and 13 not 4 and 13. Pin 4 and 13 are not right under/above each other. If you count the top-pins from the left you end up in pin number 5. That is signal ground and not chassis ground, I don't know if that matters. Or is this a different specific pin 5 and 13 procedure? Regards

I been dealing with the exact same issue in my 13 Tundra. Mecanic Shop can’t figure it out. They even “re-program” computer, it worked for two days and now it won’t even crank. Just kills the power in the battery when turn the key.

@@cameronvangreuning5779 It was actually a couple of things. Finally found second fob, and after putting new battery in, it worked.. The other had evidently been broken. Got the battery charged, but car still wouldn't start because of bad fuel pump. I actually took the battery out to make sure it was fine.

A month ago i replaced the fusible link that's in the fuse box. To do that, i did have to remove the ecm to replace the fusible link. After the replacement, the lock system (anti theft system) stopped working and i does chirp, lock or unlock when i press the remote. Also i cannot open the trunk with the remote. Can this issue be resolved by resetting the ecm like in the video?
