I replaced the alternator and the idle was really lo, like 500 or below, stalling sometimes at stop signs. After using this magic fix, it added about 300 RPMs to the idle speed, enough for it to run smoothly when stopped in drive and in park. Thank you SO MUCH for making this video, it was a lifesaver!🙂

Maaaaan I simply disconnected my battery to do some simple maintenance. And afterwards RPM was low, it would stall and die, and AC wouldn’t work unless I was over 500 rpm. I was about to start going down the list before throwing it to a shop. Came across your video, gave it a shot. So far. 24 hours later we’re running back to normal again. LIKED and SUBSCRIBED! I approved this method 1000% work on Toyota vios... After testing on newly replaced battery and idling went low then engine shut off.. It took me 10 minutes to hold gear d and rev it a little to almost 1000rpm sometimes.. Everything goes back to normal... 👌👍👌👍🙏

Dang! it works. After I replaced the alternator on my 2004 Toyota Camry, it ran like crap. So I search for others experience on this problem, and found this video. I followed the steps and saw the rpm went from about 2, 300 rpm to about 6, 700 rpm. It's smooth now. Thank you.

AAA replaced my battery in my 2011 Toyota Camry LE on 8/27/2021 without leaving the car running so i don't have to go through that (they didn't do that and after they left my car kept dying on me two time in less than 1.5 miles then i called the again and they said it will be okay but it didn't so i managed to get home and search in you tube and i found your short and useful so i applied that and my car is running like brand new and no rough idle anymore. Thank you so much I am really glad that our videos out there like this because Toyota wants to charge 125 dollars the last time I went to Toyota I had them turn off my ABS light and it came back on the next day so when I took it back to the dealer they told me I need to replace my whole ABS computer which will cost me $2,600 I went online and talked to a few of great people like you they told me just to disconnect the battery so why did that and the ABS and brake light never came back on again so videos like this have saved me thousands of dollars thanks again

Great info, thanks!!! You have 253,000 miles on your Camry and it still runs smooth as silk. I own a 2012 Camry LE with 75k miles. I drive 2500 miles a year (I'm retired). Oil and filter changed annually. I use only Pennzoil Ultra Plat. and the 20k mile Fram synthetic media filter. The car should outlast me. Toyota is a great value. Cheers!

Never knew there was a manual method pretty good to know . That's why I shared the video. Because I think it's ridiculous that you have to drive a car a 100 miles in that condition if you don't do this, I now drive a 2021 Honda Accord touring 2.0, Turbo and Lord knows. If anything breaks on that or it needs adjusting, I actually had to buy an auto about a $700 scan tool just to do brakesand testing not so many nuts and bolts wrenches more diagnostics for sure

Just bought a 2007 Camry today for my son. The battery was fine but would be going out of warranty soon, so decided to swap it out as preventative maintenance. After the swap the idle was low. I replaced the starter on my 2007 Camry and had to disconnect the battery for better reach. After I put it back on, I still noticed two issues - slightly delayed start (albeit better than before I changed the starter) and a lower idling. My car used to move in D mode when foot of the brake, but now was just standing. I felt idling was off. I followed the steps you highlighted and gave it 8' for good measure, now the idling issue seems to have fixed. thanks a lot !! Now just need to solve the other delayed start problem.

I have a 2012 Toyota Camry SE (*2.5L I4*) on which I’d had a whole new set of tires installed a week ago today, and I noticed a few hours after I’d picked it up from the tire shop that it was idling roughly and shaking a little bit. Mind you, it was a really hot day and I was running my AC fan speed at the middle-most setting, but I’d read on numerous forums that since pretty much all modern cars have computerized tire pressure monitoring systems, a common thing many tire techs do to reset said systems is to disconnect the negative battery terminal, not knowing about some of the consequences of such an action (i.e., wonky idling). Fearing that I’d have to book an appointment at my ‘home’ Toyota dealership and pay $100-200 (let alone miss half a day of work as we’re careening into our busiest season plus the costs of Ubers between my office and the dealership) for a throttle body cleaning, I stumbled upon your video and thought, ‘What have I got to lose???’ Anyway, I made my usual 42-minute commute into my office this morning, which allowed my engine plenty of time to get up to operating temperature, and proceeded to give this operation a shot once I arrived in my customary parking spot. Following your procedure to the virtual letter, I allowed my Camry to idle for nothing short of 8 minutes. Once the timer on my iPhone expired, I shut the car off and waited 30 seconds before restarting. When I restarted, I of course released my parking brake, shifted into reverse, and backed out of my parking space, driving one full ‘lap’ around the building. Holy crap! It really worked! There was no more shaking and my trusty steed ran as smooth as butter. And do you want to know something else? My ‘boy’ now accelerates even better than the day I brought him home from the dealership back in December; this was especially important on I-64 East (Charleston, WV area), where good acceleration really does count. Couple the relearned idle & better acceleration with those new Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring All Seasons I got last week, and my Cambot now literally feels like a brand-new car. Thanks again, my man! Called the Dealership, the first person I talked to said, bring it in, $100+ diagnostic. Looked up and followed your video and it work!! Thank you very much! This worked on my 08 hilux ute with a manual transmission that I have just changed the battery on. Beforehand the idle was so lumpy it would make the pen sitting in my dash rattle whenever I was stopped at lights... used the same method but instead put my car into second gear and sat there idling with my foot on the clutch and the other on the brake and handbrake engaged. After about 2 minutes the idle smoothed out and viola, no lumpiness or rattles. In fact I don't think it has ever idled this smoothly. Cheers.

Edit: got it to work!!! Thanks again for the video Having the same issue only this method doesnt work with mine. My car is a V6 it idles at 500, head lights and cabin light is low in lighting plus AC not working but when the RPM goes up to 800 or 900 pressing the gas pedal everything works perfect, like WTF 🤔

Thought something horrible was wrong with the car and then remembered my wife’s 2008 Sequoia would do the opposite after a battery was changed and idle high and it took a couple of trips for the computer to reset. My 2001 Chevy suburban sat for 3 days, battery died. When i fully charged the battery, the idle was shit an would stall my car an my ac would blow hot air at idle. I unplugged my + terminal on battery while car was running and my engine turned off.(was told that means alternator was bad) went to orileys to b sure, an yes. computer said the regulator was bad in my alternator. Bought, an installed a brand new alternator (fairly easy).....my idle was still shit! Still blew hot air!...... after all that...thank you this worked!....next I would of changed the idle air control valve an that's as costly as the alternator(luckily fairly easy to install) ... hope this helps

I know this is an old video, but I have some questions and observations I would like clarification on: 1.) I’ve read/seen this done multiple ways. Sometimes On/Off/On/Crank. Sometimes On/Off/On/Off/Crank. 2.) Every other method I’ve seen has said that the engine MUST be warm, but yours here is all the way cold. 3.) Do you apply the parking break before or after cranking the engine? I’ve only ever seen it after. 4.) What exactly is the technique here? Does turning On/Off trigger something in the computers? Why do we have to do this manually?

Does not matter if engine is cold or warm. Turning key sets computer to relearn process. You can apply parking brake before start Thanks

Take it for a road trip 60-100 miles it should relearn the fuel trim. If not any bidirectional scan tool can reset fuel trim
