For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

I ran out of string on my replacement head tonight and this is my first rewind for the T35. Once I opened it up, I went in to look for the instructions. Couldn’t find them anywhere, then it got dark- I chose your video because it was short and has a good thumbnail. Definitely a much needed video, and I bet you could shorten the video with a remake and cut the time down without losing anything. Your camera angles, lighting and centering on details in this video are a little out to the side… But your content makes up for it and covers all the bases of rewinding the head. No doubt, I will be able to rewind my trimmer and get back to weed whacking tomorrow. Thanks!!!

I have a 20/60 volt dewalt electric trimmer. It's a monster however the heads on dewalts are always bad and never work correctly. I saw a post about replacing it with ther P35 because it is a good trimmer head. Didnt know how to restring it so thank you. this helps me. For those of you with the Dewalt. The P35 fits perfectly not modifications needed. It just tightens right onto the bolt on the Dewalt.

Might be helpful to re-do the portion showing how to fit the loaded inner spool back into the outer case (from 2.00 to 2.30), and this time back your hands away from the camera so we see the trimmer parts rather than the bottom half of your face.

I put the spool into the silver things first. This holds both lines in place. Then I connect them into the head & the tabs snap in. Good video. I also just wind about 10 feet of line so it won't give me problems.

That helps, depending on what line you use. I've used Oregon Flexiblade that struggles to bump feed.

It's a lot easier if you lock both ends of the line in the provided holes on each side of the spool and then you don't need to try holding the lines from unspooling as you reassemble the head. Just before you snap the head back together simply pull each end free from the spool lock holes and you're done after you secure the locking tabs. Thanks for the video.

Good info and fast, but you missed two important things..........at about 1:02 mark, you should look on outer rim of line spool to see diagram that shows you what direction the line should be spun onto the spool. And at about 2:22 mark, you should show how to snap BOTH ends of line into the holes in the lip of the spool; one one end, you just snap it into place, but on the other end, you have to go another 180 Degrees around the spool, CROSS OVER the middle rim between the two separated sides of the spool, and then snap that end of the line into the hole which is on the same lip as the first hole. These are important details.

Just bought the 525L trimmer and it has the T 35 head. The cheaper model has the speed feed head. Tge T35 seems like a pita. Going to swap that out with my current head. From the machine the 525L is replacing.

Is there a trick for making the line feed out easier when you bump it? With my Husqvarna you have to rev it really high and bump it extremely hard to feed out the line. I don't wound it tight and always clean out the grass inside for bump travel. I used to have an Echo weed trimmer where you just barely bump it on idle and it would feed out sometimes when you didn't really want it to.

I wish I had an answer for you. Most of my Husquvarna T35 heads bump and feed too easy, wasting line. You could always buy an ECHO Speed Feed Head and install it on a Husqvarna. I have a new one still in the package that I plan to make a video about, installing them on different brands. I've heard they work well.

I work with alot of young summer workers and full time staff that are not very good with hand held equipment. Every bump head on the market all these years has a spring in it..If had a dollar for every person that walked in the shop and said I LOST MY SPRING i could have already retired. I know it is crazy you ask HOW DO LOSE THE SPRING. This happened all the time. The T35 head you cant get to the spring, although i just had one where he beat the thing on the concrete like a sledghammer and totally destroyed it, but he gos through at least 3 heads a month, YOU CANT FIX STUPID.

PS: When I rewind, sometimes my line gets wedged in the spool - really tight. Perhaps, using larger diameter line would help. any suggestions? This happens with both the Husqvarna and Stihl trimmers (both are 2-cycle engines).

When I wind it, I try to evenly distribute it on the spool, so it's less likely to get pinched in there. This year, I switched over to Echo Black Diamond Line and happy with the results. This is one long line that's folded in half and hooks into the starting part of the spool. The Stihl trimmer heads use 2 separate lines, unlike this one. The trimmer line ends are stuck in the hole of the top to keep it from unraveling as you install it back in the the rest of the other part of the trimmer head.

@@MarkThomasBuilder Yes I know how to start spooling the folded part on my Husy, but I didn't use the little holes at the top, I just held them tight as I pushed it back on. I think I figured it out on my own though, I think if you snap the ends of the line in holes, they will pop back out when you snap the hub back on. No videos that I watched has actually said it like that. Also I use a small piece of electrical tape to hold the folded line down when you first start spooling (one side at at time), no one has said it like that either. But after enough videos and trial and error I did get it to work. Thanks for your reply.

That's a good question. I've been using Stihl X-Line 095. It seems to works well. The titanium line is good too. For real heavy, tall stuff, I use Oregon Flexi-blade.

I've always wondered why.. or if... someone has taken the BUMP TRIMMER HEAD EYELETs (replaceable parts- 2 each) and using a sharp drill set, opened up the eyelet passage and eyelet itself(corresponding increments) to allow larger than '.095' which is recommended for most trimmer heads and larger than '.105' line that some say can sometimes be used with the standard BUMP TRIMMER HEAD EYELETs. Some trimmer heads, especially after markets, have the eyelet not at the bottom of the cap, but higher in the cap and smaller in general size, so to say, don't appear to have much room to 'bore out' the Eye or Eye Passage some 25% larger in opening size.I've sorta polished the eyelets opening some' in cases where the eyelet position and design is like the one in the vid.. and helped a lot in feeding .105 line out in some different Mfg'ers heads eyelets.. well, I guess I'll have to try, trial and error...

Your helped a bit..but you didn't state when spooling the line in what position to hold reel and depending on the position of the spool in what direction to spool clockwise or counter clockwise ..I had to freeze the video to try and see in the position you were holding the reel so when installed it would feed correctly.

Nice video but there is two tabs to hold each string before you attach onto the trimmer. You only snapped in one string on the last remaining 1 foot of string. Otherwise nice video!
