@privatehudson4432 The reason for this IS so that the concontrol is.only.reset too many times and the chamber does not get way too flooded....that would be treacherous if it were to light.

Thank you for your help! It's been years so I didn't remember all the details. I used the 3/8 wrench, a washed/dry dunkin donuts straw and a 2 liter empty soda bottle on the bleeder so I could rest it on the ground while it caught the excess oil, then I could focus on closing the valve once the air was out, then poured the extra back in the tank. It started right back up!

I just wanted to say thank you so much!!! This was the simple and perfect solution to my system just continuing to blow cold air. I am married with 4 kids and it’s currently 13 degrees outside and I’ve been dealing with this for a day at least. Holding the reset button for 45 seconds and bleeding the line of any air fixed it. Took about 3 minutes to get the right tools and we have heat!! Thank you!

This is so weird. Back from 2012-2017 my family owned and ran a handyman service named Everyday Home Repairs. My dad, along with me and my younger brother, did the handyman work, while my mom stayed home with my baby brother and answered calls. (Well, my brother and I were a bit young to be much of a help, so we mostly handed tools and cleaned up) Imagine my surprise when KZbin recommends me a handyman channel of the same name.

Hi Scott. This video is very helpful and I'm doing everything you're instructing. However, I did a little over 10 iterations trying to get this flame to burn. My furnace hasn't been turned on for over a year. I wanted to see if it's operational. I put 15 gal of fuel in it and still getting air. How much fuel would you recommed to just see a flame started? Thanks.
@EverydayHomeRepairs

You probably have plenty of fuel just sounds like the line still isn't primed. I was having an issue where my fuel line filter was plugged. Once I swapped that out fuel was much easier to get through the lines to make sure the unit primed and was able to light.

Or is the fuel pump bad ? Thanks in advance

Going to put this here for others who this video didn't help: For some reason my led light was off and I tried multiple times to hold it in and even used a timer. No joy. Resetting my breaker didn't work BUT... I thought "maybe it flipped my switch" it didn't. But I turned the furnace switch off and on anyway. By the time I got back to my furnace it had kicked in. Before I could even get my wrench to the bleed screw it ignited! So simply refilling my tank and turning the switch off and on worked for me. I didn't even need to bleed the line despite it running dry. If you can't get the light to work and you know there's power to the unit try simply turning your power supply switch off and on. The breaker didn't do this for me I have no idea why and I'm not questioning it because I have heat again. I hope this helps people who couldn't get the reset button to start the furnace up.

My red interupted ignition oil primary control had a flashing red light/button. I pushed the button in and got two green lights (pump prime/flame) and then it fired up. 15-20 seconds later it made sputtering sound so i opened up the little pilot door tonsee if it still had flames firing and it made an awful sound and extinguished, shooting soot and black smoke everywhere. Guess i needed to do this fuel drain cycle thing you do here? Or was the issue i didnt hold that button for 45 sec, i just pressed it in real quick. Not big on DIY stuff involving fire and smoke erupting when and where you sont want it to if ya do something wrong haha, prob pay someone else at this point

You do not need to open the bleeder valve on a 2 pipe system, it will prime itself by recycling the unit. The bleeder port is for a 1 pipe hook up without the return line. The newer R728B Honeywell primary control has a bleed by pass feature built into the controller for priming the unit from 1-10 minuets if needed.

I was nervous to try this. I didn’t even know what a boiler looked like and was able to completely resolve the issue within no more than 10 mins of taking action! Some things that might be helpful to note 1. The oil switch to the burner can and I think has to be on while you do this. I wasn’t sure about that part and was worried I’d blow up, but still here 😅 2. Although the oil comes out in drips slowly here it might come out quite strong and fast, so make sure you have a bucket under it and that your out of the way of splash or wearing clothes you’re okay with getting oil on. Having paper towels or a rag handy would have also been good. 3. For my boiler it was just one press of the button, not a 45 second hold.
