My son's Onetouch Ultra test strips worked like a charm. you helped me a lot. Thanks. My medical supplier wants to ship on the 90th day which puts me behind on my sensor supplies. Going back to finger sticks for a few days is a horrible transition. But I was stopped from extending a sensor because Dexcom caught me and wrote a message that I was trying to use the sensor for more than 10 days. I extended my time without a sensor to about 7 hours because I went to bed with no sensor on. I put the old sensor on in the morning and it was ok. If you were a user of the Libre CGM you wouldn't have readings at night anyway because you don't swipe your Libre overnight. So don't put the old sensor back to work for at least 3 hours. The way Dexcom catches you is they know what your blood sugars were recently and the 2 hour warmup period can't match that same pattern. Make sure your warmup starts with a clean slate without Dexcom knowing your glucose history.

The removal process is MUCH easier if you use a thin plastic collar stay used in men's dress shirts. You can get these on ebay for less than $8 and they last FOREVER. Their shape is even better suited to the task than the guitar pick and they're a million times better than a credit card (which is much too thick). The rounded end of the collar stay makes it ideal. With a collar stay, you can disengage the clips on each side in less than 2 seconds once you learn exactly where to slip the collar stay in between the sensor rim and transmitter body!

I have used this method for a while. Now it doesn't seem to be working. It doesn't hurt to pop the transmitter out, but you usually have to flex the muscel or have someone hold it while you manipulate it to keep the sensor from coming off or just pulling the wire out of the skin. I have gotten almost 30 days from a sensor, but found that the site becomes red and irritated -- slightly infected. It left a pimple that went away in a couple of days. So, I've found that doing 20 days is about all I want to do. You really have trouble with the adhesive lasting that long. The spray on adhesive seems to really help, along with the overlay patches you get free from Dexcom by calling them up. Why they don't just include those with every sensor is a mystery.

How many times can you restart a sensor, is there a recommended amount until it starts being faulty?
@benjaminbailey15864 жыл бұрын
I've used your method to restart the sensor,, 1st time I tried I got the dreaded no restarts error message, 2nd time (after installing new sensor and letting it expire) I waited 15min with transmitter out, it restarted to give me an abnormally high number like 220mg that I was like no way I double checked with blood glucometer to find out I was actually 94mg I tried to force calibration of 94 and I kept getting error after error after error when recalibrating 15 to 20 minutes apart. I finally gave up and installed new sensor yet again. 3rd time I tried I waited for new sensor to expire yet again, restarted to see my numbers were way off again, this time I decided to slowly recalibrate down in increments of 20 points down every 30 min. My question to you is two fold 1st have you experienced the same issues? 2nd what did you do to fix the calibration errors? (Note that with a truly new sensor I never have that issue) Thx in advance...

Benjamin Bailey that’s exactly what I’m afraid of and especially with a child. You must calibrate to know if your readings are right, otherwise you could give the wrong amount of medication and hurt the child... or yourself ! I wouldn’t want to take that chance.

I’m also having not great accuracy or longevity with the restarts. Averaging about three more decent days which is still appreciated but not perfect.

@@elizatherocker That happened to me and I had to replace the sensor, I think what happened to me is I was too aggressive removing the sensor and the probe came out giving me bad reading now if I'm careful I can use two strips and when I hit the spot the sensor pops off

Hi, thanks for the video, how many times it will let u restart it, or is it just for 1 restart, thanks

Has the sensor itself ever accidentally peeled off the skin before it’s 10 days of use is over and could you just retape it down?

They have free sticker things that fit over it. Just call.. They have been free whenever I've called.

Hello. I live at South Korea. I restarted it one time. But my friends says that it is ramdom to succeed G6 restart. How do you think the percentage for suceed it to restart?
@dreamflight60003 жыл бұрын
Pretty high. It restarts pretty much always.. It's not always accurate right away after the restart and sometimes it lasts only 3 days and other times 10. That's what's random about it.

Thanks a lot for sharing this solution. I'm so happy that it worked cause it saved me from throwing away my new sensor. I'd been using it for only 2 days when it stopped working due to systematic problem and showed up on the screen 'insert a new sensor'. Here in Sweden, I use Dexcom G6 and order regularly new sensors for free and since I began using it, my blood sugar changed dramatically to the better control, less hyper and more importantly less hypo issues. My productivity of life has increased dramatically. I think every diabetes on earth must be able to access these useful medical devices for free. It's not your fault if your body stops producing insulin, is it?!

I just watched your video. I saw that you didn’t need to wait 15-30 minutes to restart the sensor. When I have tried to restart, my blood sugar graph is wonky and very irregular. Is that normal?
@dreamflight60003 жыл бұрын
Yes, normal. It takes a bit to get back on track. We DO have to wait a good 20 minutes to start now though. That's a new change.

Hi; if i miss the cod , can i use the calebration method ??
@celestedouville25294 жыл бұрын
Wait, what? You use the same sensor for more than 10 days? Are you telling me that you have used the same sensor for 60 days in a row? No issues? I am so on board for this. (Also how long can you use the same transmitter?) And where else can I find these hacks?
@boulevardscared3 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking about that too! So nervous to try but will do! Hope it works
@jeffblunt44064 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video. So how long are you getting accurate numbers after restart? A full 10 days?
@dreamflight60004 жыл бұрын
Sometimes 3 days.. Sometimes 10! It's so random for us.

@@dreamflight6000 Sorry to keep asking questions, but what happens when the sensor starts to go bad? Do you get errors or are the numbers just inaccurate? I have a Tandem pump with Control IQ which actually gives boluses for high BG readings (works really well). I'm a little worried about the pump giving me a bolus for a "high" BG based on inaccurate readings. Appreciate any thoughts you have!
@elizatherocker4 жыл бұрын
Jeff Blunt I mostly get no signal errors. Some inaccurate readings too tho
