Love your videos. Amazed you're in Harrogate. Bought a chest of drawers from Hospice shop down Cold Bath Road, Harrogate, my husband in Garage as I'm writing this comment applying oil after the steel wool. Hope it will look as good as yours!

Hi Rob, Loving your videos, thanks for sharing. Ive taken on an old Georgian chest that needs a fair bit of work that I bought at an auction, I'm in the process of replacing some missing beading. Ive cut some Sapele and just like in your video it stands around 10mm above the existing beading on the drawer face, I was just wondering how you brought your beading down level with the rest and shaped it after fitting it to the drawer? So far thanks to your videos Ive done another Georgian chest, a Georgian bureau and a few antique chairs, your videos have been a massive help and inspiration, thank you for taking the time to post them.

I know so little about furniture maintenance. I started watching your videos this evening and I am so enthused. Thank you for all you share. Do you have anything on addressing mold and mildew? I have a lovely chest of drawers with some burled pieces from a grandmother that, sadly, a family member neglected. Today I sprayed and rubbed, and in part scrubbed, with vinegar, soap and water, bleach, and alcohol and let it sit on my deck in the sun. I believe I see some fine black mold in under the polished grain. Regardless the smell is still too strong... and seems stronger. With my allergies it is becoming problematic so I may have to shift it all to a no climate control garage until I am better prepared for this project. I am wondering if I should simply shellac at this point, after trying to color correct where it appears stain needs replenished. I would prefer something matt however a contrast of a matt and a shine with the two wood textures might be sweet.

I would suggest an ammonia based non sudsing cleaner. I used Soilax for a long time, but it is no longer available in the US. As to the finish, you may want to try doing your shellac work and after it dries doing a rubbing with extra fine steel wool and they try buffing a paste wax. Leaves a great warm glow especially on red or brown finishes or mahogany. Soilmax is a newer product that I think is a new company producing the old formula, not sure though. Good luck.

How very interesting! I loved the video. I was looking to add/repair old runners on a set of inset drawers of an antique chest of drawers. Also, what is the name and artist of the first song on your video? I love it!!

What do you like to use for stripping a piece like this? Also, can you use linseed oil verse mineral oil?

Although I love the music, it’s a bit distracting from being able to watch the restoration process. Otherwise, great video and new sub here!!!

Curious, I found the music to be a wonderful addition to the video ... added a nice feeling as I watched. As they say, to each his/her own.

What kind of oil did you steel wool with - BLO, tung, mineral oil? BTW, the last worker I saw dance with a mannequin was Robert Duval in a Twilight Zone episode (she carried him out when he fell unconscious after the building caught fire)

Rob who is it singing on this vid... Absolutely brilliant voice... "Shazam." can't recognise her.

Sounds a lot like Lisa Margaret Hannigan? Or even Marketa Iglova? Either way you will probably like both of them if you like that first song.

The song is " Capture me" by Andrea Tomasi from Usa.
