Today we have this american classic cruiser, 1962 Ford Thunderbird in the Detail Garage. Years of harsh UV rays have stamped out the bright torch red finish and in turn leaves a faded pink matte sheen. Harmful UV rays expedite the oxidation process. To combat this never ending battle, add coats of sealant and wax to delay paint damage that when left untreated can become so bad it will require new paint to correct.
Wouldn't we all like a fresh start, well now you can at least breathe new life into your vehicle using the right products and technique. Lets watch!!

I have a 2019 red corvette, will the uv rays beat the finish up as well or is the paint different now a days??
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! Good question, although modern paint has made improvements, the color red still absorbs UV rays poorly and that begins the oxidation process. Layers of sealant and wax or a ceramic coating will prevent damage from harsh elements. - CG Nick

FYI Chris, I was told that GM and other US car manufactures went to water base paints and there are some issues that can arise down the road. I just bought a 2019 GMC AT4, I immediately got it ceramic coated to prevent any premature issues. Chemical Guys are spot on with their response to you.

Then, buff off with a clean microfiber towel. - CG Nick

@@ChemicalGuys I just dont understand. Is it the other compounds I've put on it that's causing it to do that or just the paint? I makes me mad because I spent 2 whole days going over the entire car by hand in fine detail making sure theres no spots on it, and I spend $11 on this spray wax and it makes it look swirly and horrible looking. Edit: I found out what it was! It wasn't the spray wax. It was the polishing compound that made the car feel sticky. It must have still had a very thin laver of that on it, and it was getting smeared around when I put the spray wax on it. So I washed the car and put the spray wax on and it looks great. Probably not the best, and you can only see your reflection up close , but it's better than it was.
