2 questions: 1)How long did you wait between your first and second coat of Mr Black? 2) Do you have a solution for removing white/gray water marks on paint from rain dripping from door handles and the top rain gutter? Great job!
@Whiteandsonsgarage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks 🙏 . I waited about two hours to do my second coat, might be a little longer depending on where live. The rain spots can be a pain to get off depending on how long they have been there, Bowdens has something called a claying rubber it helps to restore the paint

This looks really nice as far as I can tell. Would you say it is like the original gloss finish or more glossy? It is difficult to judge the gloss part on the monitor screen. I have seen a product called Penetrol, but e.g. that (Penetrol) looks definitely too glossy for my liking.
@Whiteandsonsgarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks really appreciate it. I would say it very close to factory but just darker, I think this is a good middle ground. Let me know what you end up doing.

@@Whiteandsonsgarage Thank you for your response and feedback. For the moment the hardtop looks still OK as our Jeep is a 2017. But I already see the writing on the wall as the top has definitely started it's fading process. That is why I am already planning ahead. I want to be ready when the time comes. But I think the product that you have thankfully introduced to all of us and reviewed tops everything that I have seen so far. Checking out your channel a bit more, I have seen you have even posted a one year update, which is such a wonderful idea. I guess I stay tuned with your channel for other cool videos. 😀 Thanks!

I have a 2006 lj hardtop. Most of it looks faded/ grey. But parts of it are splotchy with what looks like either some kind of coating that was applied along time ago, or possibly even clear coat paint? It’s hard to describe. My question is do you think I could just apply with after cleaning the top. Or do I somehow need to remove the previous coating before I apply something like this. My fear is if it dosnt look uniform before applying this the darker/ splotchy areas will look darker than the rest of the hard top. And if you were to try to get the darker areas off do you have any suggestions for taking it off? I thought possibly paint thinner. Or sanding it or maybe a scuff pad? Idk I’m just scared that trying to remove the darker areas no matter which method I use will create along her area with either streaks or possibly a different color than the rest of the faded top 😂 any insight would mean the world to me thanks
@Whiteandsonsgarage8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment, it’s very to tell what’s on the hardtop without seeing it in person. I would try and avoid sanding it if you could. I would try and give it a good deep clean and maybe a clay bar to remove any high spots in the paint. Not 100% if that will work. Sorry it’s a bit hard with out actually seeing it.
@areject178 ай бұрын
@@Whiteandsonsgarage I found out using a scuff pad will make it all look uniform as long as I don’t “burn through” the paint. But I can’t even find Mr black anywhere in the USA 😭

How long would you say it takes for a topical hard top to start fading? I literally bought a brand new 2022 gladiator 2 weeks ago. Hasn't even hit 500 miles yet and already the top is getting faded spots...

Your top is still black. Lol. My fenders are grey. Used to be black. So I threw them away and installed new ones. (I’ve always used a soft top)
@grantoz12574 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be a dick, just searching for the best solution. All I want to do is touch up some scratches on a slightly faded hard top and all the paint products come out too dark. If I use this product it would still be too dark. Therefore I would have to do the whole top to make it match. So my question is.... why spend $84 and many many hours with this product as opposed to just buying a $5 can of spray paint and doing the whole top. Much quicker.
@Whiteandsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
Definitely a good point, for me I already had the product from doing my fenders so didn’t buy it just for the roof. Painting would of been the next step if this didn’t work but very happy with it and how it has lasted.
