Just because it's the trunk doesn't mean we can make it pretty! Make sure to check out the MERCHANDISE SHELF above this comment and help support DIY AUTO SCHOOL! THanks for watching.

Good point that it's water based. All the GM splatter paint I've used they recommend a top coat clear after it dries. Usually a matte lacquer. I've used the spray bombs before and they had a clear right next to the paint. It will peel without it if the trunk gets damp. Nice video!

Another good one Pete. Most don't know there are different shades of splatter paint, it even varies from one manufacturing plant to another for the same year and model. My 66 Chevelle was made at the Atlanta plant and research indicates the black aqua was used there. Thanks! Might use the OER black aqua too.

I’ve seen the splatter done with a brush . I think I like the brush splatter better . To each his own !! 👍

I would like some explanation on how to get more transfer efficiency with the Binks model 7. You said it in one of the paint gun videos with using lower pressure and fluid. Not sure what you think about that. That’s what I use. Thanks stud!

Never understood the water base on this deal.

I think that's how they get the spatter effect. The base is water based and the spatter colors are oil or some other non-soluble base paint.

Hi Pete, wow that looks awesome, nice job! So,what did you use for the black?? I think you had it down to bare metal, what did you use before the black?? Was it epoxy, then black paint, then the splatter? Or did you use 2k on the metal, then sand, black paint, then the splatter?

I like to picture of the Chrysler turbine engine car . I think there are maybe 3 left of those and Jay Leno has one . An idea that did not work out as supposed .

What is the deal with the bots in the comments and why does no one block them? Do their comments even count? Are they on here to steal people's info, what's the deal?
