That works really well. However, It is not necessary to separate the trimmer head and extract the inner spool to rewind new trimmer line. Another option is to line up the arrow lines on the bottom as mentioned during the reinstallation in the video. Get about 20-25 feet of trimmer line. Leave everything intact and feed one end of your line into one of the holes on the outer housing. Push it into the trimmer head and it will tunnel it's way out the opposite side. There is a channel in the middle of the inner spool for this purpose. Some twisting of the string may be required to get it out the second side. Pull your line through the trimmer head to where you have equal lengths coming out each hole. Wind it back into the housing rotating the red bottom push button. The initial crank is sometimes stiff depending on the thickness of your line. After the line is wound onto the inner spool, trim the ends to match. Give it a try

You don't have to remove the spool.. Just line the red bump knob up with the two holes and feed your line through.. Even both ends up and start turning the bump knob clockwise.. I stop every now and then and snug up both lines..

I have the same trimmer except I can change attachments. If you lineup the bump knob with the eyelets one can feed the line thru the head without taking it apart. I took a piece of wood and made about a two inch in diameter,measured the distance between the indentations on the bump knob and drilled two quarter inch holes in the wood circle, glued two quarter inch dowel sticks about an inch long. Place the dowel sticks in the bump knob indentations and turn the knob to wind up the line. Quicker and easier on your fingers. Takes longer to cut the length of the line off the spool than to load it.

My hero! I was lucky and did not have to take the cover and button off. I made sure to put the divided line so it was taut and then I was able to advance the string. The manual is not much help. You really need to see this done in action and find out what to do if you mess up the line inside the head like I did. Toro didn't include a manual with my weed trimmer. :( (I called them and they are sending me the manual.) I was so bummed out at first because I got this top of the line weed trimmer and thought I'd have to get it serviced before I used it once! You are right about the line Toro included with it. It was 0.080" and wimpy. I got the professional grade 0.095" twisted line that is lime green. I heard of a hex cross section line that is supposed to last 50% longer from a friend of mine.

great tip, thx. But there's an easier way to find the middle after you threaded the spool. Guess half (like you did), then line up the two ends of the string, and walk your hands toward the spool, grasping both strings. Then slide the spool into the middle of the final few feet (I hope this makes sense without a visual...) Version two: fold your 25 feet in half, mark the middle with a sharpie, and off you go...

As mentioned below (by steve...) this is the long way. No need to take anything off. Straight align the holes and pull string through 50%. Then spin the know and rewind. In theory its easy but I find the winding difficult but way faster then pulling it apart as in the video.
