I'm single and female and evidently my genetic code did not give my brain the ability to figure this out! The diagram in my owner's manual simply doesn't show how the line comes off the spool and into the metal holes. It looked like the 2 notches had some purpose there. good grief.

Thank you for your excellent instructional video. I checked it out yesterday knowing that I had planned on a whole lot of trimming around my house: along driveway, sidewalk, landscaping borders, etc. I had to restring the spool three times! The second time was required because one string had somehow gotten jammed up in the spinning mechanism. It didn't faze me at all because I had proceeded as shown in your video and it went well every time. The only thing I would add would be to advise people to restring the top spool first because when you're done with it, you have to secure it in one of the provided notches. If you start with the bottom spool, you'd wind up securing it in a notch that will make the string cut across the top spool thus hampering its restringing. Again, thanks for the very useful video.

That was exactly what I needed. Looks just like mine, but I've been "just winging it" for a few months. I only have to hit weeds every other week so the line has been doing okay but I have to re-adjust or reset the line more than I should. FINALLY a video that had all that I was looking for. 1. I realize now that I have extra thick line.... (but lots of it, so I'll use it & it works) 2. I wind the line tight which is not advised, and that's probably why it gets stuck inside!? 3. THIS is the part I wanted to know - how to neatly feed the two lines into the two holes, I struggle with that, but you made it look super simple. I shall try feeding it in & then slipping the line off those grooves that hold them in place on the spool - Hope it's as simple & as sweet as you made it look. THANKS!!

Thank you for this! Of all the videos on this subject, yours is the best. I wish these awful companies would include actual instructions with their equipment. My new GreenWorks 21212 came with incorrectly wound string out of the box.
