I've only ever replaced strings on my 3 guitars maybe a dozen times total, but I've only been playing for 2.5 years. WAY easier than whatever the hell I was doing.

Thank you for this! I'm a beginner with my first used guitar. The strings you showed in your video worked great too. Especially when I screwed up the first attempt and had to order more 😅 I really need to get that tuner wrench. It was tough without it.

3:11 Your E string should be under the string tree to give the correct break angle, right? 😉

For broke guys who have only 1 pack of strings and can’t get more at the moment, don’t cut old strings in half. Remove them by down-tuning. Put new strings : you never know if one will pop at the process

You sure the first wind is under and the rest are over? mostly any other source i’ve seen says the first one is over and the rest are under.

We're talking about the same thing - just worded differently! When I say "the excess needs to be under first, then over", it's the same as the first wind of the string itself being over, then under the excess. Apologies for any confusion!

@@ConorRocksYT so basically when i first put the string in the tuner i let the first wind go under then i push the string down and let the other winds go over?

@@rinokurin4837 other way around! The first wind should go over the excess of the string, and the rest should be underneath it, working down the tuning post

Okay. I tried changing my strings myself. For some dumb reason, when I wind to tighten them...they get loose. Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is there something with the tuners? Also, the pencil trick is something I've never seen. That's clever

You can just do one! But, I recommend if they've been on there a while and one breaks, then I'd change the set 😊

Yup! But, if your strings have been on for a while (over 3 months) then I'd recommend swapping them all out!

I might be doing something wrong but my strings aren’t coming out of the back. Only one came out with ease, I can’t get the others out though

No worries! If it happens again you can try either removing the backplate, or using a whammy bar to jiggle the bridge!

I'm so upset I saw this video and it looked simple enough so I took my old E string out and went to replace it with super slinky's, when I put it through the tuners I don't get what to do, my tuners slipped and bit the end of my string off so now it's too short and no good :( please help me someone, I've ordered replacements just because of that one string. I can't get the original back on either

Hey Reuben, sorry to hear that - just checking - did the string get cut too short? As a tip, you should be able to buy single string replacements!

I’m ngl maybe it’s because I have a squier strat idk but I can only reason turn tie the string around maybe just 1 1/2 rotations before I have to stop or else it’ll just break this like the 3rd time this week I changed my strings first two times because I wound it too much to where it broke off

Sorry to hear that! Can I check - are you giving yourself enough excess by pulling the string back before winding it (like at 1:29). Also, is it snapping in the same place?

Same happened to me with the squier strat, I gave it about half a fret extra room and seemed to work better. I broke 2 packs of strings before i got it
