When you really don't want to mess up screws, get screwdrivers used for gunsmithing. They are high quality and flat tip ones are properly ground so the faces that enter the screw slot are parallel. This greatly helps prevent the screwdriver from slipping out compared to the cheapie screwdriver that might taper all the way to the tip. Wheeler, Weaver, and Grace are good brands. You don't have to spend a lot, and they should probably last you forever.
