How to Retarget Animations from UE5 Mannequin to Metahuman (or vice versa)

This is the fastest way to retarget animations from the Unreal Engine 5 Mannequin to a Metahuman skeleton. It also works the other way around.
This also works for retargeting Unreal Engine 4 mannequin animations to the Unreal Engine 5 mannequin.

Can you use UE5 blueprints, animations, etc for UE5 VR stuff? Or would you have to setup Blueprint commands completely different because of VR vs non VR? Just asking because there’s almost no tutorials on VR content for UE5.

From what I understand it is not fundamentally different in VR. What would be more fundamentally different is if you are creating a multiplayer game- there is a level of complexity required for blueprints in multiplayer not necessary for single player

@@NumenBrothers Ah gotcha I appreciate you getting back to me. I was thinking about creating a multiplayer VR game. Maybe I’ll start with a single player game first then. The VR community really needs VR MMORPGs badly so I was thinking about trying my hand at it. There’s Zenith and Orbus and that’s pretty much it. ilysia VR probably won’t be out for a while.

Yes. But it may not be for a while. What is it you would like to know more about? I may be able to point you in the right direction.

@@NumenBrothers The process itself, starting when you get an idea or are inspired by another game or movie, continues until you transform it into a game with challenges. It would be nice if you could explain this process during this series. This is my weakest point as an indie developer :(

@@aka.Xavier To start, keep it simple. So for example, in the Let's Build the RPG series, I aimed for a gameplay prototype- simply something I could play. And once again (with the Devlog) I'm aiming for much the same thing, but a little bit more developed. It's going to have a simple good and evil theme- a theme as old as time. But with that simple theme its enough to have a prototype of how the game will actually play. Because once you have a prototype of gameplay, then you can begin to adapt it to a story. For the story itself- it has to come, first and foremost, from what inspires you personally. I recommend starting by picking the top 3 characters that have motivated/ influenced/ inspired you in your life. They could be from a show, from a movie, or a game- really any type of story. Identify, what was it about those characters that continues to inspire you? What is it that made them stick with you? Your answer to that question are those archetypal ideas I was talking about. And then with any story, I would start with your main character, and then build a story around him (or her). In most stories, the way they start is that something unexpected happens to the character. What is it? And then, because of the uniqueness of the character, the combination of the unexpected thing that happens OUTSIDE of the character, and the unique traits WITHIN the character- that combination is what makes a unique story. But I would always start with the character first. If you would like to discuss further I would be happy to talk more face to face. Just email me and we can coordinate a time over Discord. @@NumenBrothers Most of the time, I finish the prototype of the gameplay with all the abilities, and then, like in the movie 'Finding Nemo' when the fish said, 'Now what?' hahaha. Thanks for your advice; it really helps a lot. I truly appreciate your invitation. It would be an honer
