This is a great VID, would of been cool to have set it up as a plugin with Anim Notifies and a Initialize reference Interface to character since this is something that will most likely be recycled.

1:10:47 I've got an idea for a new series..... I would suggest a new series that deals with understanding Catholicism from an outsider's perspective and also understanding TLC land....( like a tour guide in a foreign land: ) You are a teacher, and a good one at that. So when you do it let me know so I can get an early seat up front and close to the chalkboard ....😅

Hello! Is there a limitations on how many actors I can have? I have set it up the way you showed in the video on my char, no problem.. But when I tried to set it up the same way with my boat, it dont work.. nothing works besides the character, even when I try to just drop a example sphere in the water 💦.

I started learning UE5 about a month ago after watching my 8yo daughter play Hogwarts Legacy. I was fascinated with the detailed graphics and had tried to build my own single player RP game engine in Python a couple of years ago for her. I love the ability of creating and sculpting your own fantasy world. I found your videos after searching for how to make caves in UE5. After seeing how good they were I started watching the whole series. I am currently on #7....your video quality is excellent!

Well, it didn't work on mine, obviously when you press play again without restarting the Engine the audio will play instantly because after the first start it was already stored in memory. I connected the "Prime Sound Cue for Pla.." node in the event beginn play to initialize it right at the beginning, but it didn't work.☹

I have a problem. Whenever i try to download any character from Maximo it starts downloading some random file with no icon and a weird name like "Ch06_nonPBR.fbx" and when i try to open it, Microsoft Paint 3D opens saying "Can't read that file. It may be invalid or in a format we don't support" and nothing happens. If anyone knows why and can help me it would be very appreciated!

I am excited! A quick recap, last year I got through this video and due to poor FPS I went no further. I came back this year once I upgraded my graphic card and this time my FPS is just under 90 FPS at the completion of this video, much better than the 30 to 40 FPS I was getting about 8 to 9 months ago when I took a break from this project. I am excited to press forward to the next stage of this project. Lesson 11 here I come! 🤗

Your content incited a lot in my mind, made me question what was learning for me, what was effort. I'm a donut maker in Brazil, and you made me realize that being good at something is all the same, the effort, the process of not understanding, and than "suddenly" it clicks. Whatever the subject, effort with humble posture towards knowledge and information. I love how above of just gamedev your channel is. And I will forever be a reflection of this concept you planted in my thoughts. I never participated in any of the live content, im not a group guy, and I feel like I'm missing part of this, but I try to take all the good part I'm able. Just by listening your questions, I understood how important is to understand that I know nothing, than maybe I can learn. Thanks for changing my life.

@@NumenBrothers thanks for that answer. At a random day last year I got myself thinking about making a game, a dream I developed maybe the first time I saw my uncle playing Thief metal age. Than minutes after that I was searching (not very efficiently) for videos about it and I saw your video about "why I should not star your lets make the rpg series, and all you said in that video made me believe I could do it. And more than 8 months from this day, I can only thank you. The journey of more than making a game, but learn all the small aspects, logics, blueprints, interfaces, blender, cascadeur... you started the spark I needed to star learning. I sucked at school, never finished college, and aways said to myself I was dumb. Sorry, I just got lost typing... I just cannot thank you enough. If I can get pass through my Autism... I will reach you. If I fail, know that you are more than you think.

So this is probably at 70% so that when you launch your game your editor isn't taking 100%.. although ue5ed takes like 5gb with an empty editor so...Basically need a 4090 seems like lol

Maybe it wasn't the case when this video was made but yes, you can get the velocity, depth, or audio intensity at a spline point, using 'get float property at spline point' you just need to know the property name eg AudioIntensity or watervelocityscalar

Thanks for sharing #4 is very interesting to me in particular. I've got a few tips that come to mind: - Editor startup map: Set the default map/level to load on editor start, Project settings > Maps & Modes > Editor Startup Map - Play at current camera location: Press the vertical ellipsis button near the play button, you can choose 'Current camera location' really useful when creating & play testing environments etc. - Show/hide gizmos 'G key': Toggles gizmos (e.g. axis, billboards, bounding areas etc) This caused me a huge headache in the past when I hit this key by accident. - Go to selected object 'F key': Centres the camera on the selected object, again very handy in large levels and during environment creation.

This is really cool. Is there any way for this to push / pull in other characters? Enabling physics breaks all movement so I'm assuming it's not possible, or maybe that's just in my specific setup.
@RiverDougne14 күн бұрын
I hope so. It would be nice if it could be spawned like a black hole by one character, and then it starts pulling in other nearby characters, but if they are not too close, then they can overpower it by running away, otherwise, then they can lose movement and get pulled in and receive damage until it disappears.
@NumenBrothers12 күн бұрын
Yes- almost certainly. Haven't played with it though. You might have to 'ragdoll' the character, or at least in part. I recommend looking into physical animations.

I was also looking for content related to creating a massive world in the world partition and how to merge 2 maps into one. If done in levels with World Partition off it seems you can merge 2 maps aka landscapes into one. However if world partition is on there does not seem a way to merge the 2 lands into one. Any thoughts on this? I hope I explained it well. Also, I was wondering how many KM is the 63x63 Quad landscape?

5:00 "Quality doesn't have numbers, doesn't have the luxury of such a thing" Maybe not the more ethereal conception of quality, but there is a lot of good quantitative engineering thought about how to properly think about quality. Engineerguy has a really good video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmmsgGyrbq6ohdU) talking about how the engineering definition of quality shifts depending on design constraints. A big part of that conversation is tolerances (and properly defining / determining / understanding them). It's definitely not the whole picture, but I find that getting dirty in the specifics is one of the best ways to really get a handle on a pattern.
@NumenBrothers16 күн бұрын
Your left brain thinking on this is an essential aspect to this- to 'feel' the pattern in the attempt to grip

I have a question. Is it better to make my own Nanite Trees for a actual game, or is the performance more or less the same with recent Megascan assets which are also nanite optimized? I know the old assets caused too many draw calls because they used Alpha Maps / Leafcards, but the newer megascan stuff is fully modeled out geometry. But im still not sure if those Megascan stuff is still usable in a game or if its rather for production.From my testing like 300 megascan trees give me 55 FPS in 4K on a 3060 TI with high settings. But what breaks the bank is always grass, i used optimized grass and it alway goes down to 27-30 FPS as soon as i paint grass. Not sure if making my own nanite grass will fix this.
@NumenBrothers16 күн бұрын
Great question- apologies I haven't experimented with this, although I assume more recent Megascan assets are created with Nanite in mind
