that’s not how expenses work at all, they’re passively removed from the fund every day so all appreciation and dividends are already ex-expense

also need to take inflation into account and taxes...this will only make sense when compared against other funds that will be studied in the future, however each time a new fund is studied the older ones need to be redone to ensure past history is apples to apples

Great work and calculations after a few hiccups. I am seriously looking to invest in YMAX but I am watching its movement and researching more than I did on TSLY. I am leaning to say YMAX is the best ETF for investors who are not active daily in monitoring investments but more weekly and monthly.

I’ve developed a similar spreadsheet for me and my son but using the ETF’s I own and let it roll up totals. Our target ETFs to buy are only those that tend to have 50% or higher annualized returns with $1 or more monthly dividend. (We do have a couple that are just under our target). So far we are running at avg 80% annual return. My son’s goal like ROD’s is to retire ASAP, maybe 3-4 years from now, he’s 39. In 2027 if YM continues he will = his income. I’ve advised him let investments grow to double current income before retiring. Then there will be enough $ to put some in more conservative investments This is very high risk but very good reward.

Yes, and perhaps some experts here can suggest strategies with maybe 50% of buying power to use for keeping our account balances stable after ex dates, etc. Those of us already retired need to use those dividends at this point. My suggested combo I'm watching are YMAX, CONY, and NVDY for stability, yield, and Juice!

@@JerryLivinthelife I like your combo but you should add some index fund in there like SPYT, SPYI and the likes to have a more stable portfolio. YMAX is good but when thing goes sour not just one stock goes down but all the high IV stocks will go down together. I like CONY and you can use short CONL to hedge if needed. NVDY, boy it is a God sent stock that does not want lo land at any time. I will buy some NVDA not NVDY because I want quick in quick out not got stuck with the yield and can't let go.

I would say you are grossly underestimating the dividend yield. It’s currently 43%. The lower early percentages were due to “dilution”. Now that the outstanding shares is so large that the usual suspects that pile in on the declaration date becomes a much smaller percentage of the total, so “dilution” becomes negligible. I think the distribution will settle in between 45-50%. Well I was way wrong. Huge dilution ... 15%. Wow.

Personally, it looks to me like QDTE and XDTE are the best bets compared to the other funds out there. They are designed to rise/fall with the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500, and reinvesting dividends weekly is pretty powerful. In general, index-options-focused funds that focus on rising/falling with the index and being more conservative with the dividend are the funds that would be good to make videos on. YMAX was an interesting, but the manager of Yieldmax and Defiance sometimes seems to not be too concerned with nav decline. Maybe that is changing, but QDTE and XDTE state capital appreciation as those funds’ secondary objective. So I feel Roundhill has designed those funds from the start to mitigate problems they saw with other income funds. SeekingAlpha total return comparisons might be good to add to these videos as well.

Respectively I don't see these insane returns as sustainable. The historical average for the stock market is about 9-10 percent. I would set projections closer to 15-20 percent long term for these funds and even that is an excellent return regarding a 10 year term. What we are seeing is tremendous inflation and hype being built into these absurd prices on stocks like nvidia

You assume way too much with this. I love the fund, but it’s just not sustainable. How will the fund perform during a recession? How will it perform if we go through a flat market over several years? We’re about to see a correction in the market (probably the fall). It remains to be seen how this will impact all YMAX funds.

The problem with having a equal weighted fund seems to be that they don't let the winners win and keep adding more to the losers. When bitcoin goes through the crypto winter, cony could lose 90 percent for weeks while the others could be climbing to offset but will get cut if they grow too much. However with this synthetic strategy, allocating an equal amount of money each week may be different results.

Love your videos but once again I think you're overestimating the real world. The S&P 500 this year is on Pace to be up 29% for the year and the nav is flat on ymax. This is not a normal Market the S&P 500 averages 10 to 12% a year so I think a normal long-term nav erosion will be about 15% a year down reflecting normal long-term stock market performance. Of course dollar cost averaging down will help and a 35% to 40%, yield will still give you long-term performance. So I think negative 15% on Capital with a 35% yield is a realistic long-term goal for YMax!

If you average all the Single Stock ETFs in the YMAX fund, they average something close to a 53% distribution. Unfortunately, there is a time period between when those funds pay out their dividends to YMAX and when YMAX pays out it its shareholders. New shareholders can come in and buy YMAX shares during that period. This dilutes the payout. So, the payout will never reach the theoretical 53%. Last month it was about 43%. What I have noticed is as YMAX gets larger, the “dilution effect” of new shareholders buying in during that time period is diminishing, so the YMAX payout % is increasing. If you notice, each month the payout percentage has increased. So, RoD’s estimate of a 35% payout is probably understating the future payout percentage.

Total return basis, YMAX is lagging SP500 by about 1% since its inception.

Really? How did you determine that? I just looked at the Total Return charts on Seeking Alpha, the YTD chart. YTD, it shows SPY at 11.3% Total Return and YMAG at 13.48%. And that’s even giving SPY a one month head start! Somehow, I think your math is wrong.

@@adairmartin YMAX and YMAG are not the same thing. Also YTD is skewed as the Yieldmax funds didn’t exist on Jan 1

@@MJIKS22 You are correct. I accidentally typed in YMAG when I meant to enter YMAX into Seeking Alpha. That’s ok, though. YMAX has an even greater YTD return of 13.85%. It started on 1/16/2024. So, SPY had a 15 day head start on trying to produce returns. So, YMAG is actually disadvantaged in this comparison.
