It really is best to have the pro tools- a hand stapler is hard and scissors are vs your electric saw blade to cut foam fabric etc. I like to draw a line where the center staple is to align the fabric evenly all the way across top and sides.the line guides me as Im a beginner. great tutorials.

I've just discovered this channel and have binge watched most (if not all) of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. Your videos are clear, uncomplicated and highly instructive. I'm very, very, very...new (but equally eager) to reupholstering. My question is; I have dinning chairs with high backs and seats just like the ones in this video. However I'd really like to turn them into Parsons chairs. Bearing in mind I've never done this before, how would I go about converting them? Or should I just take the easy route and make slip covers for them? I'd be grateful for your opinion and instructions or better still do a video on each 😄.

You're awesome! What a great help!!!! I have never reupholstered a chair seat in all my years of DIY-ing stuff! Granted, it's trial and error.....as I don't have all the fancy tools😄 but I now need an air compressed staple gun! Thank you for these videos!🤗

Ahh that’s really kind, thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful 😊🙏🏻 you don’t have to have all the fancy tools for something like a seat pad but a staple gun and and air compressor will make your life so much easier and will save your hands too!

Hello and thank you for all your videos, I've been following you for a couple of years now. I have some G Plan style mid century dining chairs. They have a solid seat base, then what might be called coconut matting and then thin layer of foam covered in oil cloth. Which of your videos would be best to follow to make a more comfy seat without losing the style please? Thank you 😊

Hi Bev! You can get bottoming fabric/ cloth from any upholstery suppliers. Although it could be called something different depending where you’re from.

Hello! New subscriber here, my husband just sent me a photo of a dining set he just bought for a hundred dollars 😅 it needs TLC, which is what led me to your vinyl reupholstery video, which led me here. I've been seeing for almost 20 years, but have never tried my hand at upholstery. This may be a silly question, but could I use a regular cotton fabric for reupholstery? Then cover in a clear vinyl? Or do I need to use upholstery fabric? I need them to be wipeable. I have 4 littles 😅 any advice would be so appreciated
@faceliftinteriors
@faceliftinteriors 11 ай бұрын
Hi Nicole, many thanks for subscribing. Depends if it's an upholstery fabric as curtain material will be too thin. If you go into a fabric shop and ask them to show you the difference I think you will understand. Lots of upholstery fabrics are wipe able nowadays so you should be able to find something suitable. Hope this helps 🙏📐📌🪡🧵✂️

Hi Jacqueline, sorry for the delayed reply. Have a look at my video going through the different foam grades and where I like to use them - the video is in this link kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJPJmaeIhZiaf7M I like to use blue foam for seating (bench seating, dining seating) and it’s slightly firmer and more durable.

How to mark diamond tufting on round sofa or half moon sofas ? I can't find any information anywhere, island I've marked the a million times but the seems weird ...
@faceliftinteriors
@faceliftinteriors 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I would draw out your diamond lines (just the horizontal lines) on the fabric and free-hand the diamonds on the fabric once you’ve measured and drilled your holes in the foam. But make sure you follow those horizontal diamond lines to make sure your fabric doesn’t twist. Hope this makes sense.

Yeah, you’re right. It CAN be a problem if they snag some fabrics where you’re working, or you poke your fingers. A small hammer is always my best friend for things like that - and smacking staples . I have an electric gun, and that’s the problem there😁.

staple remover or flathead screwdriver pincers or pliers the former dig into the staple and lift it up a bit or entirely out of the wood (a mallet helps to bang it underneath the staple) pincers finish the job and can sometimes lift fabric and staples together entirely (with the corners/pleats especially) be safe and keep your free hand out of trajectory of the tool be careful not to damage the wood and foam

Hi Barbara, I would use 6oz dacron or lightest 4oz. Make sure you bring it all the way over so the fabric doesn't hit bare wood. Hope all goes well! ⛏️🧵📎📐✂️👌
