Why are the large holes against the check plate and the small holes against the shim stack? Doesn't that mean the small holes are being used for the compression stroke, which would be suboptimal? I'm a bit new to cartridge suspension.
@INTEGRALPHYSICS Жыл бұрын
The large holes in check plate are to allow the bladder to easily refill the cartridge on rebound. If the shaft rebounds faster than the cartridge can refill, then you'll get cavitation and knocking. More bladder pressure allows for smaller check plate ports, and larger ports against the compression stack.A big complaint on these forks is the stock pistons are restrictive on HSC. Aftermarket pistons, at least attempt to, address that issue.

Thanks for the video. How do we know what to change on the shims based on the type of riding and skill level? For example a B motocross rider?
@INTEGRALPHYSICS2 жыл бұрын
I'd start at like 6-9 face shims (.1th) then a relatively long taper. I had a setup like that from mx tech for a bit; it was great on landings... absolute crap in the woods though.

I hear these forks are great for woods, when valved correctly. I rode them on a 2013 250sx and wasn't impressed. Can these be good forks?
@INTEGRALPHYSICS Жыл бұрын
I have found, a bleed shim on the base combined with lots of float and a light stack on the midvalve make these work for the 1st/2nd gear stuff I typically ride. Great? Not really I actually prefer the feel of the air forks.

@INTEGRAL PHYSICS I have a spare set of AER's from my '19 350SXF that I'd like to set up for some gnarly northern PA rocks. Any suggestions where to start?

KTMTalk usually has some VERY good stacks posted over there. I'm increasingly going in the direction of more spring and less damping than many would consider typical but I come from mountain biking so I like the front end to feel a certain way.

Hello good video. Can you post a good shim stack for enduro? Hard terrain. Do you use bleed hole in mid valve? Best regards

Also, i have learned nothing about revalving from this video.
@INTEGRALPHYSICS2 жыл бұрын
I showed you how to swap shims, its up to you to get out and test what valving is going to work for your rider skill, fitness, position, riding style, not to mention tire choice / pressure, chassis setup, engine power characteristics, braking setup, trail type, weather type. There is no magic 'pull a shim here and everything will be better' type of bullet; anyone who claims otherwise is pushing clickbait.
@borjafat2 жыл бұрын
@@INTEGRALPHYSICS But you said that it doesn't really make a difference and to be careful about removing shims from the stack. How then do we change the performance of the fork? Thanks!
