How to Review Your To-Do List Using the Eisenhower Matrix

In my never-ending quest to optimise my productivity, I frequently review my to-do list using a powerful tool - the Eisenhower Matrix. Let me show you how it works.
I draw out a grid with four quadrants: Urgent and Important, Not Urgent but Important, Urgent but Not Important, and finally Not Urgent and Not Important. I then place every task on my to-do list and any ongoing projects into one of the four quadrants.
Once I've mapped everything out, it's time to decide what to do with each quadrant.
• The Urgent and Important tasks-these have to be done immediately since there are deadlines and consequences. I prioritize knocking those out first.
• The Not Urgent but Important quadrant contains long-term, high-value tasks. These are easy to procrastinate on, so I break them into smaller steps and schedule them to ensure they get proper attention each day or week.
• For Urgent but Not Important tasks, I look to delegate or outsource them if possible since they don't require my expertise. Though sometimes that's not an option.
• Finally, the Not Urgent and Not Important quadrant-I seriously consider deleting those tasks entirely since they provide no value, although some can serve as fun distractions during breaks.
Going through this matrix review provides a bird's eye view that makes me reconsider what I'm actually prioritising on my to-do list versus what I should be spending time on.
It's a simple but powerful exercise to regain clarity on your priorities!
